Protecting the Most Precious

in #personal5 days ago

Today is Friday. For me, this means a few things. It’s payday, where I fund my dreams and pay my rent. It’s the day before Saturday, where I have the privilege to not work. For the most part, I’m obligations stop there. I can sleep late tonight, because I don't have to get up early. There’s a greater chance my friends online can hang out, too. I enjoy today because I anticipate freedom tomorrow, even though I may end up more obligated than I am on a work day.

I can already feel the tug of resistance from changing some habits. I’m familiar with the start; I’ve done so a million times. You draw a boundary on your time to do something else. You’re complimented on your decisions to behave differently. Then, you have your tasks you want to prioritize so you decline others’ invitations. You can’t make anyone plan their day- but you don’t like people trying to interrupt your moves.

How do you do it?!

I think I have some more planning to do. I’m at the stage, where I don’t care who wants to get in my way. They’re going to be politely escorted off the premises.

So I think if I start at the month, then break into weeks, I can single out a wish a day- and let the rest flow between. I like the sound of that. If anyone’s curious, take a walk while you think, plan or consume. Apparently, a research study found that it’s good for creativity.
