Hey there,
Happy Saturday to you!
Today I'd like to share a piece of advice with you that all the gurus would consider heresy.
It's so much fancier to teach, “always strive for excellence” and “give it 110% all the time.”
But guess what?
You can't.
It is not humanly possible to do EVERYTHING that needs to be done and to do it ALL 110%.
It's just not happening.
So, today I'd like to give you permission to cut a few corners. To accept that not every task can be completed to perfection. To realize that good enough often is more than is necessary.
Why?
Because the quest for excellence is all too often a dangerous trap.
You see, to be successful in business, you need to excel at the IMPORTANT things, and you need to COMPLETE the rest.
Excuse my language, but you've got to get shit done.
Lots and lots of the tasks we face as entrepreneurs are not of critical importance. They won't make or break your business. They will not be remembered a year from now (nor a month, most likely).
However, they do need to be done.
So, here's what I want you to learn today.
When faced with a task ask yourself two questions. First, “is this a truly important task?” And second, “how good is good enough?”
If the task really is important, by all means throw yourself into doing it better than anyone could hope for.
But if it's just something that needs to be done - do that.
Get it done, and move on.
Believe me, if you learn this lesson, your business and your life will improve greatly.
