Archaeologists in Iraq have discovered a city that was lost more than two thousand years. An amazing discovery was made with the help of military unmanned vehicles: having noticed something incomprehensible on the photographs, the army transferred them to scientists.
A team of researchers from the UK is currently digging. They have already established that the city was built by Alexander the Great himself. After processing the photographs taken with drones, archaeologists were able to identify a large municipal building hidden under wheat fields.
John McGuinness (group leader) believes that in the first and second century BC, the city underwent significant Greek and Roman influence. The surface has already managed to get a few statues.
Alexander of Macedon founded Kalatha Darband in 331 BC. Here, in due time, the color of his troops was gathered - the fortified castle was located on a mountain pass and was an ideal place for an attack on the Persian king Darius III.
