Try or imagine living in conflict every second of every hour of day of every week of every year of every decade, and perhaps of one whole human existence.
Somewhere along such a journey of suffering, whether that conflict is internal such as depression, hopelessness, unworthiness, etc, or whether the conflict is external in relationships with family, work, community, or countries at war, I am sure somewhere inside you a yearning for another feeling may be desired to be experienced.
That experience, compared to the above, is probably what we may call peace.
Also on a level of spiritual experience, perhaps we can only experience the need for peace when we have had enough of the experience of ‘not peace’, as we would not know peace without ‘not peace’, and vice versa.
