PayPal's payment service Zoom, officially popular online payment system, was launched in Bangladesh.
Today, the Prime Minister's Information and Communication Technology Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy inaugurated the service at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Thursday.
Sajeeb Wazed Joy said as the chief guest at the program, expatriates have sent their hard earned money to different channels for so many days. As it costs more money, it is also being victimized. PayPal's Zoom service can now easily send money from PayPal account within two hours to the country. Not only the freelancers, expatriates can also use this service.
Sajeeb Wazed said that by 2018 all the unions of the country will be brought under fixed broadband under 'Info Government 3' project. In addition, he promised to reduce the price of the internet every year and announced the launch in the current year.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said, "Bangladesh is in second place in the world in freelancing. Freelancer's long-standing demand for creating money from foreign countries through PayPal services The demand was met by opening this service. Like many countries of the world, our freelancers and expatriate Bangladeshis will now be able to send inbound money through PayPal's Zoom service in Bangladesh. However, money can not be sent abroad from the country. Our initiative will be continued to phase out full paypal services, led by Prime Minister's ICT adviser.
Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir said that the service will benefit five lakh freelancers of Bangladesh.
Secretary of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Postal, Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Imran Ahmed, Information and Communication Technology Division Secretary Subir Kishore Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, two thousand freelancers from the Department of Information and Communication Technology have been selected from the Learning and Arining Project. 16 of them were rewarded at the ceremony.
PayPal services are available in 203 countries around the world. Of these, full service in 29 countries and inbound service in 103 countries has been started. With the introduction of the Zoom service, PayPal's account holders could not send money back to Bangladesh. From now on, US PayPal account holders can send their maximum 10 thousand dollars each time using their PayPal wallet. It will cost 4.99 dollars for sending one thousand dollars per transaction. And no more than one thousand dollars to send money, no fees. The service is being started primarily in Sonali Bank, Rupali Bank, Agrani Bank, Janata Bank, Social Islami Bank, Uttara Bank, Pubali Bank, City Bank and Islamic Bank.
