VirWoX - The Virtual World Exchange (crypto-Paypal-crypto)

in #paypal7 years ago

Hey everyone!

A few days ago I asked Steemians if they still happened to use Paypal cause I was interested in trading some of my Steem/SteemDollars for Paypal "money". Now I know what you might think "ugh, why would you wanna go back to stone age paying methods?", but the fact is that most people still use it to this day, especially the ones that don't know about cryptocurrencies yet.

I did my first transaction through a Steemian, but let's just say doing it manually was not the most efficient way. Afterwards @ausbitbank told me about this website called VirWoX, it looked like a really old one so at first I just tried it with a small transaction, after waiting half a day for the bitcoin transaction to confirm I tried it out and it worked flawlessly and I instantly got my funds onto my Paypal account.

An overview of the funds they accept for deposit

You just create your Bitcoin address, send the bitcoin to it and wait. Then all you have to do is convert the BTC to their own "commodity" called SSL - Second Life Lindens, and after that you trade the SSL for USD and withdraw them onto your Paypal.

It was really weird noticing that the Bitcoin step was the only one that took a long time, imagine how much faster it would be if they accepted Steem or SBD instead with the 3 second block time!

The reason I decided to share this is that I know many who still just use Paypal, even friends of mine who are aware of crypto but use Paypal when making online purchases or microtransactions. The best part is that you can also use this the other way around, to convert your Paypal money into cryptocurrencies.

So if you ever stumble upon newcomers who might be interested to purchase Bitcoin or Steem or any other cryptocurrency you can direct them to this site which makes it easier than most of the current methods!

Thanks for the information i'll check it out.

I guess this comment deserved a 15$ payout.

This still works? I remember using this back when I was medling with Bitcoin in the early days! Wouldn't use it today, but maybe there are those that can benefit from it.

Yeah even though it looks like its from the stone age it still works. ^^

I love your post my friend and that you share information with the community. I really use this because I use paypal, I'll start investigating. And it is not to flatter you but you know that you are a very respected user in our community. That said, I miss the funny posts of aciydio, haha. I hope someday they'll come back, haha. Big hug and I hope you are having an excellent Sunday.

Great post! In Canada we use Interac Email Transfers widely now.. its about a buck for up to 3k... I dont know if they have those "pay day loan" places where you live - but thats pretty much what paypal feels like to me after theyre done with you! Quadriga is an exchange in Vancouver that allows Email transfer to bitcoin and vice versa - if anyone is in Canada and looking for a solution (they also offer merchant services) its the cheapest and easiest method by far. Im not sure if I would use them as a wallet however!

I was told that it is very expensive to use. The commission fees are high

Yes the fees are high mate but you can catch them up as this is the crypto world.:)

Get a good concept from you!

It wasn't that bad, of course it has some commission but I guess a big part of it is Paypals as well. For example, the Steemian sent me 100 USD from Paypal - Paypal and I only received 95.

VirWoX helped me to get into the crypto world and I think as more people will come in to crypto currency game soon.

Check your email @acidyo . I bought on genesis using your code. Steem on...

Ohh that was you? Cool, I haven't even bought any hashpower myself.

Let me know your ID thing in case I decide to buy some at some point

I also still use Paypal. Its quick and kinda safe. I will definitely check out VirWoX. Thanks for that. Upvoted

that is great !! i just saw this and i was recommended by a friend to check you out :)) I use pay pal all the time, so will have to check it out!! thanks for this :)

So this is how the interface of my virvox account looks like after about 5 months of registering with them.

Looks like a web page from 90`s

Thanks for tip. I dont think I will use this any time soon but its nice to know the option is there..

I used this to buy BTC with paypal, it is very expensive fee, fortunaly when i bought BTC price was 1700$, i ended up paying the price around 2200$, but now, just a few weeks later i actually earned because BTC is over 2500$... You can try localbitcoins.com also for exchanging BTC-paypal, exchange rates are high but its faster...

This could be very handy for new people I invite to Steemit, although it seems to be an uphill battle with people new to this space.

Better than constantly going downhill on other platforms. ;)

I am with you, I just wish I could convince them how much better this is than FB and alike. They even abandon it with a decent chunk of $$$ in their wallet. I keep trying though

Very useful information, especially for beginners in crypto world. And there are a lot of them. I have friends and can not understand that the future is crypto, they call bitcoin and Steem is not real money. So I will prove to them how for these "candy wrappers" I will buy real things. ))

Excellent advice. I had completely forgotten about VirWoX, since I was never a Second Life player. Most places will not accept PP payments for Bitcoin, because of chargebacks, so the SLLs is a useful "buffer."

I use it habitually because I prefer to have my Bitcoins on PayPayl. I have to say that some times the transfer of funds is not very fast (even one week), but it also depends on the payment of commissions. I will find it very simple and straightforward to use.The assistance is always timely. They respond immediately to the mail.

VirWox is the most expensive stuff on the internet, those fees are bloodthirsty!

Really? I didn't check the fees that much cause I only sent a small amount in total.

Just created an account today, but I was told to wait for 48 hours for manual check or something ;(, thought it would be instant.

Ah yeah should've mentioned that. They accepted my account really quick, though.

I use virwox for years now.
The exchange rates are on the high side but it´s a reliable site
You have to confirm your identity though

I care more about reliability than exchange rates. There is a transaction or two that did not pull through for me with changelly. I wrote to their support centre since and up till now, no reply. It is better for me to pay high transaction fees with no hassles than to pay little fee and have a headache later because of problematic or outright failed transactions.

I was interested in trading some of my Steem/SteemDollars for Paypal "money".

I will be glad to buy steem or steem power with my verified Paypal account.. But you found someone else.

Can I use Virwox to buy Steem or Steem power with paypal?

Yes, although through Bitcoin, but yes.

Ive used VirWox before, the site looks like it was made in 1995.
The fees are high, but it does work.

Whoa! My first thought there was "Second Life still exists?"

Seems like an awkward and somewhat expensive way of exchanging BTC to PayPal...

Odd bit of trivia few people think about... the Second Life internal currency-- "Lindens"-- was a fully functional "virtual currency" driving an entire economy and exchangeable for fiat currency long before there was Bitcoin. Not blockchain based, mind you...

Believe you me, @acidyo, the virwox exchange is very good. I have never had issues with it since I started using it in January. I even made a video tutorial about how I power up my steemit account , featuring virvox as my first exchange partner. Here, the link https://steemit.com/steemit/@maryfavour/how-to-power-up-steemit-account-using-fiat-currency . Upvoted and resteemed your post. Thank you for unknowingly buttressing my point.

Oooh nice!

I have also used the paypal option on virvox too and no problems whatsoever. Never had to contact their support centre for anything. The virwox exchange is very good.

Thanks for the confirmation!

You are welcome!

Yes, this is the biggest challenge for global adoption right now. This method is on the right track!

Are there any minimum amounts? On https://www.onestpay.com/ The minimum amount for exchange is 0.02 BTC.

There are no minimum amounts. However, as a new user, you'll be limited to $90 or $99 transaction /daily until 45 days, I think, after which your limit will be increased. After about 5 months with virwox exchange, my limit is now $400 euros.

Thanks for this information!

It's my pleasure. Thank you too for sharing this post.

I just checked and no minimum amount was mentioned!

It is a great platform because some exchanges do not allow small amount of bitcoins to be traded so it will be helpful in that situation.

Didn't know where else to post this, but just wanted to say THANK YOU for the 2 STEEM you sent @randowhale to upvote my post! So generous of you :) Will be returning the favor shortly!

Haha, no worries! Was having a little fun trying it out. :)

Thanks for the comment, though, reminded me to follow your account! :D

I've used them 5 times now to buy 0.5 ~ btc. The only thing bad amount them is if you have not bought before you will have to wait about 1 day to get your purchase verified. The handling fee although lowered is still really high.

nice....your post deserve my upvote and resteem....

The exchange rate is so bad!

Great info! Thanks ! Upped and resteemed !👍👍👍

i'll have to keep this in mind for future transactions since i just started and am no vested ẃith any funds yet 😉
