Hi
Temptation has two sides, and the two sides have different responsibilities and stories to tell. The unfortunate is, most of the time we get to hear only from the subjective words of the tempted. We never her to hear from the tempter, thus all the blame is always pushed towards the tempter, as the culprit of our downfall.
If we only had even half a minute to hear from the tempter side of the story things would be different. Most people can tell you that it was the devil, who tempted them and caused them to fail, but what they won't tell you, is this where did he find them. If they did you would see the part they played also. That's why the bible warns us not to give a foothold to the devil. Without that the devil cannot attack you, he must land on something before he tempts you.

When you're being tempted, you bring desires on the temptation table and the devil brings the opportunity and the temptation. Those temptations find power in us, because we have desires, feelings and appetites. Without these things temptation would not be powerful and as a matter of fact, the devil would have not tempted us in that area.
The devil brings temptations strategically, he targets things that are close to our hearts. Our desires, feelings, appetites and ambitions, are natural and legitimate, but these things also are the weak link to us. The devil is attracted to them. He woos you to meet your natural and legitimate desires and appetites in an illegitimate way.

Read about Eve, when she was tempted. You will clearly see her part she brought on the table. The fruit in her eyes appeared desirable and suitable for knowledge. The snake capitalized on that.

You can also read when Christ was tempted, each temptation had something connected to Christ, personality, mission and needs.
When he was hungry after forty days and nights fast, he weak and he needed food it was an opportunity to the tempter, because there was no food around.
The second temptation was about getting back the dominion, that man had surrendered it to the devil, when he sinned. Christ came to restore man to God and earthly dominion to himself. But to achieve that mission he had to die a shameful and painful death. Thus devil came with a simple solution, bow to me and I will give you all the kingdoms of the earth, you do not need to die shamefully.
It goes the same way with all the remained temptation. Devil offers a shortcut an easy way out.
Thus if this is true, then every temptation your encounter, if you want to win, begin to deal with yourself before rebuking the devil, or begging God for help.

Step 1;
Take self inventory
The bible says in the book of James.
James 1:13-15 The Message (MSG)
13-15 Don’t let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, “God is trying to trip me up.” God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one’s way. The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us. We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer.

Step 2;
Draw near to God and submit the self completely to him.
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded
Step 3;
Rebuke the devil and he will free, because you have covered the first two steps.
Thanks for your time
