I would like to thank Liberty Adam's for this prompt. I give you "Ladies First-Left edition", a short story I'm working on.
When punk rock Lisa rescues proud boy Joe from a post Trump rally riot by sharing her gas mask with him after cops set off flash bangs causing chaos sparks fly between them. The non-binary yet still a warrior goddess Lisa refuses to leave the side of the ignorant and unprepared cis het Joe during his asthma attack. He never thought the cops would gas his side of the rally. Lisa gives him a ride home in her Prius during which Joe sees the truth, all cops are bastards. Then, when proud boy thugs threaten Lisa's organic vegan smoothie shop for not having lactose options for people with nut and soy allergies, Joe steps in to make peace and gets assaulted in the crossfire by the cops again. Will Joe find the courage to tell Lisa he loves her when she visits him in the hospital? Will Lisa accept Joe's affections and sit on his face once the neck brace is off? Only one thing is for sure, ACAB.
(Ok I'm editing and adding parts here we go.. )
Lisa is a queer punk rock feminist youth counselor and reiki master that owns a raw vegan smoothie shop. She starred in a YouTube sitcom and book series about how fucking easy it is to be a cool white person, called "how cool of a white person are you"
Lisa is a harm reductionist abolitionist anti racist burlesque dancer that carries Narcan even though she's never done any drugs but she does partake in ceremonial medicine ever since she saw an ayahuasca shaman in Peru on spring break in 2007, which she will happily tell you all about. She rescues woodland animals on her organic sustainable carbon neutral native plant farm where she also saves the bees. Not colonizer bees. Local pollinators only.
Lisa's parents met at a Save Monument Valley prayer meeting. Or rather her dad was a Mormon missionary that really didn't buy the doctrine but liked the trips and was prayerfully cleaning up the valley that her mom a Berkeley student and environmental activist was there to protect against mining on indigenous lands with a group from her school. Both groups started singing songs and her dad went back to California to become and activist for the land. Needless to say a wedding of half Mormons and half bleeding heart hippy liberals was a sight to behold. shows pictures of dichotomies
After the wedding Lisa was born. Years later coming toward graduation, both sides of the family wanted to ensure her future but also make her work hard. All her grandparents and uncles bought her and the community farm as an intercultural center for restoring the land. They of course didn't have much and she had to work hard for everything.
Cis het Joe was raised by a military father and a doting waspy mother. They made him a fragile and angry guy. Joe is a volunteer fireman and works for the power company climbing poles and repairing transformers after storms. In his free time he likes to hunt, fish, and ride his quads on the family farm. He got into activism because his grandfather and father almost died for our freedom.
Joe's dad Albert did 4 tours in Vietnam as pilot in the 1/8th aviation battalion. He rose to colonel after completing more successful bombing missions than anyone. He is still pissed we lost the war because he won all his battles and came home in one piece. He suffers from debilitating nightmares and has cirrhosis from a lifetime of drinking Jack and cokes, soon to be followed by COPD from his Winston cigarettes. He is adamant that he doesn't need a therapist or meds and is just fine.
They met at an airshow on base where she was working a nurse. Joe's mom Karen is the daughter of a retired police chief and former mayor. She grew up on an apple orchard and farm. Her apple pies have won blue ribbons at the state fair 15 years in a row. Which is as many years as her grandma who baked on the same land. She is kind hearted and has a pet Pomeranian named Fluffy. She loves being a nurse, but hates all the unsaved people, disabled potheads and drug addicts, often complaining about how they drain resources from actual sick and hard working people who love Jesus.
Lisa has a roommate that is an AMAB trans woman that goes by Stellar. She is friends with a cop that goes by Bubba, due to her sex worker outreach program. Bubba doesn't know they are trans yet because they aren't really dating and Stellar passes. Also no one knows they aren't really dating. They go to a rave, or rather he goes to protect her because he can't stop her. He does DMT because it's natural and over in a few minutes. He had a spiritual experience and is questioning his whole existence. Stellar discloses to him after his DMT experience. He doesn't care and loves her and begs her not to leave him. He works for Joe's uncle, also a sheriff. Bubba called into work because of his life changing experience. Everyone in the small town knows he called into work the day after the rave.
Bubba calls Joe to talk about what if the conservative right is all wrong? What if we are living in an artificial simulation? And being gay isn't bad because gender is a construct. Heavy stuff so he hands the phone to Lisa. Lisa calms him down and hands the phone back to Joe. Joe's asks Bubba to be his best man. Stellar is Lisa's maid of honor.
Gotta have a couple dating scenes and a proposal scene. Parents arguing. Another protest. A date at a show.
And somehow we get to Lisa and Joe's wedding on her farm where all of these characters are. The honeymoon is going to be tantric femdom soft porn. Where they become closer and Joe no longer identifies as straight. Lisa of course orgasms first and often. Why else have a title "Ladies First?"
Lisa, Joe, Stellar and Bubba all end up on the farm in a poly relationship and live happily ever after. They adopt kids. It's cool. The end.
