Biking in Paris is honestly one of the best ways to experience the city. It’s fast, fun, and gives you a totally different perspective than sitting on a crowded metro or stuck in traffic. Over the past few years, Paris has become way more bike-friendly, with more dedicated bike lanes and even car-free zones popping up all over.
Cruising along the Seine, passing by the Eiffel Tower, or weaving through the charming streets of Le Marais – it just hits different when you’re on a bike. There’s something super freeing about exploring the city this way. If you're feeling ambitious, you can even take a ride up to Montmartre (warning: there will be hills 😅).

If you don’t have your own bike, no worries – the Vélib’ system has you covered. These are Paris’ city bikes, and you’ll find them literally everywhere. You can grab a regular or an electric one, and it’s super affordable. Just download the app, and you’re good to go.
Of course, Paris still has its traffic madness, so stay alert, especially in busy areas. But overall, things are getting better every year, and more locals are hopping on bikes too. It’s a great way to stumble upon hidden cafés, bakeries, and quiet corners that you’d totally miss otherwise.
Curious about how bike-friendly Paris really is? This article on Guide to Paris breaks it down pretty well. Definitely worth a quick read before you hit the pedals.
So next time you're in Paris, ditch the tour bus and rent a bike. You’ll get the wind in your hair, fresh croissants in your basket, and some unforgettable memories 🚴♀️🥖🌇.
Touring Paris by bike seems like an unforgettable experience, I always thought the traffic was terrible on overclouded cities like Paris so having decent bike lanes is good news for people who don't like battling with drivers on the road or who are afraid of being run over at any moment, like me hahaha. In my city I don't think the experience would be as good, since rather than being a nice ride it's more of an adrenaline filled risky experience as you dodge people, cars and motorcycles.
I really understand these worries, not many big cities in the world are bike friendly... but they are trying more and more, but it is really hard to start in the wrong end of the story... in a city where roads and cars are already ruling.
But, they are trying to change it in Paris, and it is getting better and better!
