Who, Me?....#Change?

He said, "tell me when you are ready."Why me?"You're the one who needs to change", my husband said. The point is not who needs to change. It is who is willing to change. Sometimes life is unfair....someone has to be willing to start for the sake of the other person. Married for the past 31 years with four kids, two grandchildren and two daughters-in-law was quite an ordeal. We say change is the only permanent thing in this world but the question is.....what kind of change would that be......for the better or the other way-the worst. As I ponder on the situation regarding our relationship I would say it depends upon the individual's idea about change. Parenting was never easy and as a wife, it was not easy too, but the challenge to have a good relationship with full of love and understanding for each other was the greatest challenge of all.

Sometimes the number of years together is so fast that you wondered how you were able to survive with the challenges that you experienced. For me, the number of years is like a dash for I believe the most important of all is how you have started and how it will end.

"So, who needs to change?" I ask my husband with a smile and reminds him of this... "I give you this ring as a sign of our marriage, and as a symbol of our love. I promise to care for you, to respect and cherish you, throughout our lives together"...."Remember this 31 years ago, tatay (dad )?" and we both smile.

I think with this we will decide which aspect of our relationship we wish to share with our families and friends. After all, from the very beginning of our relationship, this is the only promised he told me that until this time binds us together......"I will not promise you anything except my love."
