The Golden North Hotel was built in 1898 and is the oldest operating hotel in Alaska. It was originally built as a two story hotel, but was relocated and expanded in 1908. A third story and the world famous golden dome was also added during this expansion.
This old hotel is haunted by two ghosts, one of whom has been named Mary. Mary is believed to be the spirit of a young woman who died of pnuemonia while waiting for her fiance to return from prospecting gold. She haunts room 23 and guests who have stayed in that room report seeing a woman and experiencing a choking sensation in the middle of the night. The second ghost is a bizarre light form that moves around room 14 at night. No one is quite sure what or who it might be.
The Golden North Hotel is located at 3rd & Broadway in Skagway.
This post is from one of my blogs: http://realhauntedhotels.info/. I just thought I would clear that up, because cheetah has commented saying my posts are similar to content found on the web. Indeed this is true, as I have re-posted an article from my blog; as I have clearly stated above. Enjoy!
