Beta Infection Can Lead To Heart and Joint Romatism

in #palnet4 years ago

Beta infection, which affects school-age children especially between the ages of 5-15, is transmitted by respiratory. Beta, which must be treated with antibiotics, can cause heart and joint rheumatism and kidney inflammation if not treated.

Emphasizing that there is no harm in returning to school children who have this disease and use antibiotics for more than 36 hours, Op. Dr. Levent İlarslan gave information about Beta infection and its treatment.

It is an infectious disease caused by bacteria

Beta infection is an infectious and microbial disease caused by bacteria called Group A Beta Hemolytic Streptococci. It is necessary to make sure that the antibiotic used in the treatment of Beta bacteria, which does not develop resistance to any drug from the first day of its emergence, is taken for a sufficient time. Beta bacterium, which manifests itself with inflammation in the throat and affects people to bed especially in winter, affects school age children between the ages of 5 and 15 more.

It is rarely seen in children under the age of two

Beta microbe is transmitted from person to person by respiration in cases such as cough and sneezing. The beta microbe, which is not normally found in healthy individuals, causes tonsillitis and pharyngitis when it comes to the throat area and settles. Severe sore throat, fever of more than 38 degrees, swollen glands in the neck, small rashes on the upper palate and tongue in the mouth, and white spots on the tonsils behind the throat are among the findings suggesting beta infection. Beta throat infection is rarely seen in children under two years of age. In addition to a mild fever, restlessness and feeding difficulties can be observed in children in this age group.

The only drug is antibiotics

It may not be possible to reveal the difference between sore throat caused by beta bacteria and a different virus only by examination and patient history. In cases where beta infection is suspected, the infection should be confirmed by taking a throat culture. While the rapid test yields results within minutes, false negativity can be observed from time to time in these tests. For this reason, the culture, which is concluded in 24-48 hours by planting, is a more reliable method of detection in this respect. If the growth of beta bacteria is determined as a result of the culture, antibiotics must be used. Thus, the contagiousness of the disease and its complications are controlled.

Completion of the treatment process is important

Penicillin and cephalosporins are the preferred antibiotic groups for beta throat infections. While the treatment is usually administered as two doses per day for 10 days, one-time penicillin injection can also be used. While it is preferable to give an alternative antibiotic to people who are allergic to penicillin, it is important to complete the entire treatment process in order to completely eliminate the infection. However, it should be ensured that children take their antibiotics as prescribed. Not properly treated Beta; It can cause heart rheumatism, joint rheumatism and kidney inflammation. This situation endangers the health of children.

6 tips for relieving children with beta infections

In addition to antibiotic treatment, the following comforting measures can be taken for children during the infection period.

Foods such as soup, pasta, and yogurt that are easy to swallow should be preferred in children's nutrition.

· Children may not want to eat or drink during this period, but they should be sure that they are getting enough fluids.

Paracetamol or ibuprofen medications can help relieve sore throat. The use of the correct dose of medication depends on the weight of the child and the doctor should be consulted about the medication intake.

· The use of lozenges and throat sprays for children over 4-5 years old, and children between the ages of 6-8, gargle with salt water helps alleviate symptoms.

If symptoms do not improve or worsen despite three days of antibiotic therapy, a doctor should be consulted again.

Children younger than 18 years old should not be given aspirin or drugs containing aspirin. In children, aspirin can cause a serious problem called Reye's syndrome.

Children over 36 hours of antibiotic use can return to school

Children with beta infections should have started antibiotic treatment before returning to school and 24 preferably 36 hours should have passed. This precaution is intended to prevent the infection from spreading to others. Under these circumstances, children who feel better and no longer have a fever can go back to school.

It is necessary to wash hands frequently with soap.

Washing their hands frequently with soap and water is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of the infection. However, alcoholic antiseptic gels may also be preferred. Especially, children should be told that they should pay attention to hand and facial hygiene after encountering a sick person and they should be shown practically.
