There are some VPN designed for saving data while browsing that has free unlimited bandwidth.

• Opera Turbo is a feature built in Opera Mini that acts as an VPN I think.

• Samsung Max redirects all Android traffic into a VPN that also compress data, reducing mobile data consumption

I am not sure how they will work at China, but both are free, consider give them a try
