Insecurities Be Damned!!

"Gee, I don't feel so pretty anymore!!"...I blurted, while standing in front of the mirror looking at the acne that's recently messed up a huge portion of my face. My sister who was sitting on my bed turned, stared at me silently and continued reading her novel.

Moments later, as I laid down beside her, she looked me right in the eyes and said "so you just wanna be sad today huh?? You're beautiful hun, both in and out. Don't let nobody tell you otherwise, neither should you believe anything other than this, ever!"

I almost teared up listening to her, not because I didn't already know what she was trying to tell me but the fact that I couldn't believe how much I had doubted myself in the first place, and also slowly losing touch of my confidence. I'm that girl that has always been very conscious of her looks and this was the major reason why I wasn't liking this new development at all.

There and then I decided to start believing more in myself each day, (heh, easier said than done right?) and this doesn't apply only to my basic physical appearance. It also stems out to each herculean task in front of me, pushing past whatever limit I had subconsciously restricted myself to, way out of my comfort.

In the end, redirecting my thoughts towards those things I adored about myself helped a whole lot. We're indeed what we profess and I wasn't just gonna have it for those negative thoughts anymore.

I also know that at some point, someone else may need to hear these affirmations more than I do, and when I meet that someone anywhere, anytime, I sure would do my best to remind them with these kind words, how beautiful and important we all are.
