@heimindanger, I am not entirely sure if it's a good thing to allow linking videos from other video platforms, as it leads to people linking to and profiting off videos that aren't even theirs in the first place.

DTube now allows curation. The embedded video you commented on is from YouTube and Youtube allows channels to not allow external sites to embed their videos.

Presumably since the channel hasn't blocked DTube from embedding videos when it has the ability to do so it means the channel has no objection to such activity.
