RE: Figure Paintings by Chung Chong-Yuo

Beautiful paintings, @slowwalker. Nothing about this art is political except perhaps the views of the artist himself.

But no work of art exists in a vacuum and is always seen in the light of its time - the moment the work becomes public, the artist's own intentions are merely another viewpoint and the art belongs to his audience.

Unfortunately, people are not always broad-minded and some even see art as existing in order to serve the state.

So, in this regard, I agree with Keats - a thing of beauty is a joy forever - it is a thing in itself and should never be viewed or used as a tool of propaganda.

Have a good day, my friend :)
