Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Painting #2

Here is another painting I did, it took me about two and a half hours. It is based off the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. As a kid, this movie was my favorite, and I found I really enjoyed recreating the legendary stallion.
I used acrylic paints, various brushes, and two different colors of paint pens (which are very helpful.)

Here's how I did it:

First, I made a quick sketch of the picture and filled it in with acrylic paints. I wasn't too concerned with going out of the lines because I would be going over it later and outlining it.

Next, I painted the ground, the post, and the fence with acrylic paints and used a black paint pen to outline it. I also used a white/grey paint pen to create shadows.

Lastly, I painted in the background and the sky, and used a sponge to add the clouds.
And there is the finished picture!
