LEXINGTON, Va. — Stephanie Wilkinson was at home Friday evening — almost 200 miles from the White House — when the decision introduced itself.

Her telephone rang around 8 p.m. It was the gourmet expert at the Red Hen, the little ranch to-table eatery that she co-claimed simply off Main Street in this little city in the western piece of the state.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders had recently strolled in and sat down, the gourmet specialist educated her.

"He said the staff is somewhat concerned. What should we do?" Wilkinson revealed to The Washington Post. "I said I'd be down to check whether it's valid."

It appeared to be probably not going to her that President Trump's press secretary ought to eat at a 26-situate eatery in country Virginia. However, at that point, it was far-fetched that her whole staff would have misidentified Sanders, who had arrived last to a table of eight booked under her better half's name.

As she made the short drive to the Red Hen, Wilkinson knew just this:

She knew Lexington, populace 7,000, had voted overwhelmingly against Trump in a region that voted overwhelmingly for him. She knew the network was profoundly partitioned over such issues as Confederate banners. She knew, she stated, that her eatery and its about six servers and cooks had figured out how to remain in business for a long time by keeping governmental issues off the menu.

Furthermore, she knew — she accepted — that Sarah Huckabee Sanders worked in the administration of an "insensitive and unscrupulous" organization. That she openly guarded the president's cruelest approaches, and that that couldn't stand.

"I'm not a colossal devotee of encounter," Wilkinson said. "I have a business, and I need the business to flourish. This feels like the minute in our majority rule government when individuals need to settle on awkward activities and choices to maintain their ethics."
