Rihanna in Comme des Garçons
According to all fashion reviews, surprisingly it was Rihanna who turned out the best dressed celeb among all costumes at the Met gala 2017. Well that’s fashion, art and style for you or whatever you want to call it. The singer turned up in a Comme De garcons dress designed by Rei Kawakubo from the fall 2016 collection. Pairing the outfit with gladiator heels that featured straps all the way up to her thighs, Rihanna stole the red carpet despite an ensemble that somewhat looks like an artwork of scrap and construction paper. However, she never really looked silly in it and pulled it off quite well.

Janelle Monae in Ralph & Russo
The Kansas-born singer-songwriter not only makes good music but has great dressing sense. The 31-year-old appeared at the Met gala in a Ralph & Russo lacy white tank top with a flowing white tulle skirt. The outfit was paired with Brian Atwood shoes, Tiffany & Co. jewelry, and a Jimmy Choo clutch. Janelle looked on cloud nine at the event.
Claire Danes in Monse
The American actress who resides in New York City showcased a frilly white blouse with a floor length cape. Pairing her outfit with black slacks gave it a professional look and a perfect example of the Monse touch. Incidentally, Monse is the child of fashion designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia.
Worst: Lena Dunham in Elizabeth Kennedy
Lena Dunham threw her hands up in despair to find Joe Jonas appearing at the event dressed in the same outfit. The American actress, producer, writer, and director from NYC chose a one shoulder Elizabeth Kennedy gown made from maroon tartar fabric and paired it with loose bangs. She ended up photobombing one of Joe’s pictures with her hands placed behind her head. That’s totally uncool.
Kerry Washington in Michael Kors
Scandals star Kerry Washington arrived at the Met Gala wearing a black and silver Michael Kors ensemble. She seems to have been the only celebrity who stuck to the theme of the event which was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between,” Kerry’s outfit consisted of artfully-placed cutouts to celebrate the vague adjective “in-between”. Credit to her for doing so.
Nicki Minaj in H&M
Nicki Minaj’s costume looked too much like a super villain straight out of a comic book. Even though she showed plenty of flesh in her ensemble, it wasn’t enough to hide the fact that H&M, responsible for her gown designed b y Rei Kawakubos, might have hastily put it together. The only plus point of her outfit were the Versace platform heels.
