If you can answer YES to all these questions, then this is definitely for you:
- Do you like to set yourself goals, but never seem to achieve them in the desired time frame ?
- is your TO-DO list growing out of control ?
- Do you put off things that you know you should be doing ?
Then try this:
There is a cool Japanese idea of doing things for just "ONE MINUTE".
Because 1 minute is so small,, its doesn't feel immense.
People dont feel pressure if they only have to do a task for just 1 minute.
But when faced with the idea of doing a few hours of something, then it feels more like a chore, and you are more likely to 'put off' to a later date.
1 minute is more achievable and less frightening.
When you do something for just 1 minute, you end up doing it more often
With the knowledge that you only need to do 1 minute, its more approachable.
You dont mind doing 1 minute of exercise. You dont mind doing 1 minute of reading.
This method has been tried and tested and it really does work.
It definitely worked for me (and my son)
I wanted him to meditate and he used to hate doing 5 or 6 minutes or it.
But now I told him to do just 1 minute before bedtime.. and he does it without any issues ;)
He really dont mind doing a minute of it.
All these minutes 'add up', and soon his brain gets used to doing a quick meditation before bed.
Seeing that our brains love getting addicted to routines, its a really nice way to form new 'connections' within our brains. So, after a few months, it is a natural habit.
Even fitness... the idea of working out is sometimes scary..
But now I say: "only a minutes-worth of exercise", and suddenly it doesnt feel like I need to climb a mountain.
its more achievable and I feel much more willing to do it.
What happens is that once you start, you end up doing longer than a minute.
But its important to know in your mind that 1 minute is the entry-level requirement.
You really can stop after 1 minute (if you want) and never feel bad about doing so.
Some days you will carry on longer..
and other days you will only do a minute.
Never change the rule to 2 or 3 minutes.
Always keep the rule to 1 minute minimum.
Please try this and report back here to let everyone know how it went for you.
