I generally don't sanitize. Much. But I do feel like there are ways to reach a broader audience by coming from a place where other people might find themselves emotionally, which means I can't be completely unfiltered. The only real editing I do (lyrically) is fixing grammar, bringing more honesty into it, and also trying to put the listener in my shoes, but also putting myself in their shoes a bit. Where possible.
