Hey guys!
So my husband and I love to make music together! He is a fabulous pianist, and I can't play an instrument to save my life, so I just stay on vocals. (He has an amazing voice too though, so maybe one week I can convince him to sing with me, or do one on his own even!) Anyway, I have been seeing so many amazing entries into the #openmic every week and I was like, hey hun, why not just give it a shot! With the piano accompaniment rather than guitar, it is a bit jazzy, so we hope you like it! This is a song that I actually sang in the choir that we met in! He was the accompanist and I was a choir member, and we just fell in love! So it's a song that brings back great memories for me! Anywho, I know that @luzcypher and @pfunk work tirelessly to make this #openmic happen, so thank you guys, really. It's so appreciated!

To state the obvious, your voice is wonderful.
But can we also talk about your husband’s piano playing.
His skills are beast mode level, aren’t they? Like, this is just a walk in the park for him, no?
Because he plays like people I’ve seen and heard in symphony orchestras.
Please keep doing these husband-wife team songs, it’s incredible listening to your voice backed by his obvious talent has a pianist.
Well done, both of you! Seriously, really good. I might have to get in on this open mic deal, at some point. I have some songs that I like to play/sing on my acoustic and never really show anyone.
Do. It.
Wooo big ending! Great job you two!
Guys!!
That was so good!
Beth, your range is incredible! The Big Loud bit gave me chills, as well as the earnest sweary parts. Ugh, so good! Radiohead is my wife's favourite band so I've heard OK Computer and Paranoid Android so many times.
This was so good! Well done Married Performers of Amaze!
Haha thanks!I hadn't sung in a while, and hubs was like "let's go out to the studio and jam, and I was like, why don't we try our first open mic. So that's what all happened! Haha.
I dropped in once in Nov 11, 1984 (I think) on Joe Magnarelli for Sunday night Jazz at the Orange Grove in Syracuse. Then this kid (smokin Joe Bonamassa) showed up in the same club about 5 years later when I started in the SU Jazz improv wednesday nights with Joe Riposo...
I left the music scene in spring 1994 because of Project Hindsight and the three Joe's were replaced with the 3 Robbites (Robert Hand, Robert Schmidt, Robert Zoller).
Wow - unexpected! Fantastic job to both of you - I think you should do more #openmic .
Aw thanks so much! It had been a really long time since we had done anything musical together so it was really nice! Maybe we should do it once a week!
Shoot! I'll be back later when my voting powah goes back up above 70%. You guys sound great, but if you add +/-20% reverb to your voice it will sound even better. That microphone channel was "dry" and that is not something all singers can get away with.
Yeah I usually put a bit of reverb on but the openmics are supposed to be live! So I didn't want to mess with my sound!
I don't think it is seen as cheating; it's the difference between the laundry room and a Cathedral. It doesn't really matter though; anyone will hear that you can deliver without the electronic room expansion.
Backed. Backed hard.
You actually take away from the natural sound of your voice as it would come across live (or in a really well mixed and mastered recording) by keeping the reverb off totally.
I’d even say that you could add in the reverb that onnovocks suggested, or even a little bit more and then throw in just the slightest pre-delay, and you’ll get your open mic recording to sound as close as you’re going to get (without a fully engineered mix) to an actual open mic performance in person.
Your voice deserves that.
Yaaaay, the #openmic is a great initiative it is cool that people join it! I would join it too if I didn't suck A LOT at singing hahahaha. I guess i'll just keep posting memes ! As I usually say to you, love your videos! The cover with the piano was on point! So good!
Rather good! :) Congrats to both of you!
Thanks so much!
Sounds great guys! Please add a YouTube link to your post so I can add it to the weekly post.
Done and done!
Hodor on piano ;)
