The Chinese version of ONO launched some few days back and there have been a lot of excitement In the EOS and Steemit communities and this stems from the fact that many believe that ONO is a kind of Promised land for those who is looking for an Ideal home to grow in the fast growing Blockchain space
Over the past few weeks as more people read the ONO White Paper, we have seen a lot of posts by Steemians about how to create better communities , how to consider the end users of your product and all that. This post however is not a Comparism between ONO and Steemit, if you are here for that , you can stop reading now

While it is true that Ke Xu shows her care for Community with the way she structured ONO. I believe she is doing what I call Tribal Branding.
The major thing that should be at the back of your mind whether you believe in Steemit or ONO is how you can help the Human race progress. At the end of the day the Human animal is a social animal and our very survival depends on our ability to form communities
So what is a community ?
A community is a group of people with common culture and belief
When we are surrounded with a group of people who believe what we believe, something amazing happens. Trust emerges. And trust does not always emerge from perfect people
Trust does not come from doing what you say you will do, that's reliability. We all have friends or family members who have shortcomings but we still trust them. Trust comes from being with people who believe what you believe
As I interact with people in the Cryptocurrency community who are not Steemains, they are always largely surprised by the level of community building that is going on in the Steemit and EOS communites, they are always largely suspicious and confused and that is because in the other cryptocurrency communities real bonding is hardly taking place
I am in the Telegram groups of some of these projects and there are two questions which are always thrown around and they are
When Moon ?
When Exchange ?
And I am not saying that this is not present here in Steemit or the EOS community. Majority of the people who are waiting for the ONO launch believe that it is a place for them to start afresh and become Whales since they missed that opportunity with Steemit. But the truth is that if you are not a builder then your ONO story will become very much similar to your Steemit story
I stated above that Ke Xu the ONO founder understands what I call Tribal Branding. So what is Tribal Branding ?
Tribal branding is the process of putting out your beliefs and values out there for the world to see
When you do this, you end up attracting people who believe what you believe and then community building occurs. Majority of people building ONO are those who believe in the belief Statement Ke Xu put out
People are the greatest resource on Earth, you need them in whatever you are doing. In a community we all have our strenghts and weaknesses. The goal is not to work on your weaknesses, the goal is to amplify your strenght and surround yourself with people who can do what you cannot do, or go where you cannot go
But this is not just based on Skills, application or experience. It is based on what you believe. Simply finding someone who is good at what you are bad does not guarantee instant synergy or trust. The sense of trust comes from the sense of common values and beliefs
We go along our daily activities and also take risks with the belief that if we fall, those within our community will be there to pick us up

If You Don't Understand People, You Don't Understand Community
One of the major characteristics of any Human being is the desire to be heard. They thrive with the knowledge that people out there care for them and what they have to say. I am writing this post because I believe that there are people out there who care for what I have to say
So for those who are waiting for other Blockchain Social Media platforms like Appics and Narrative to launch, you have to know that whatever thing you desire. Humans are the key. Every method of Value creation is tied to Humans. It is their satisfaction that brings your reward
I know that we all want to write post that makes hundreds of dollars and turn out to become Whales. But true wealth comes from value creation. The key to making it on Steemit or any other Blockchain Social Media that pays you for content is by creating Value and you also have to look beyond the reward pool. The fact that it exists does not mean that all your rewards should come from there
I am of the opinion that one of the the early negative effects of the current Blockchain system is that it has made people Lazy. Everyone is looking for the next Bitcoin or Etherum to Invest in so that they can make 100x gain, cash out and retire to an Island in the Carribean
It is very few people who are really thinking of ways to add value to the system and help in building the Infrastructure that will help the Blockchain grow. Becoming a person of Wealth is not enough, you have to become a person of Value. Be the one who builds something, rather than the ones who is looking for ways to benefit
The International version of ONO will be launching next month and if you are not someone who has the desire to build something then you will not survive there. From the White Paper you will find out that what ONO needs now is community builders and not those who are coming to cash out the ONOT tokens. Your relevance on ONO will be hinged on you being a giver and not a taker
A little research will show you that all of the people who are playing a part in the building of ONO are those who have built communities that helped people on Steemit ranging from @stellabelle to @ejemai . And the reason why they are at the Center of ONO developement is because they believe in the statues of ONO and they are willing to help build It.

On Steemit : Reacting To Culture
Steemit has changed quite significantly over the past few months.Every thing is becoming multi facted and has multiple layers.For a long time people could not tell the difference between STEEM and Steemit, but with the rise of other frontends, STEEM is making that progression in people's mind from being a Platform to becoming a Brand
There has been a lot of Storms in the Steemit Community and the most prominent topic that causes these storms in the rise of voting bots and this has discouraged many people from Interacting and creating content, but the truth is that when you come to a place where you are completely unemotional and all you are doing is reacting to culture then that's when you can actually build something
I agree with Steemit witness and Community leader who Implored those who create good content should also make use of voting bots unless the shit posters will win.
To say the truth, community building is hard. But it is something that you really have to do. And the only way to survive on Steemit is still by building a community around what your core beliefs are. You have to put it out there for the world to see
You also have to seek others forms of collaboration that will bring you value outside the STEEM ecosystem. @yallapapi of Shark School brought a lot of suggestions in his last post of ways to get value from a community outside Steemit

On ONO : Engagement From Scratch
ONO was designed with community paramount in the mind of its creator. Ke Xu chose to decline Investor Money because she already has an experience with ERA her previous Social Media project. Investors will mostly want to get their ROI and may not pander to the Idea of building a community first
This is good news for people who are really serious about building an audience and creating Value. One of the most rewarding aspects of blogging is having an engaged audience. The challenge is building that audience from scratch
There are many ways to do this, but there are specific ways to do this. In my 16 months of blogging on this platoform I have learnt many things about creating content for the public.
So if you are creating an ONO Blog these are the things you have to keep in Mind
Pick The Right Niche
I know that by now some people will be already planning on how they will take the ONO Cryptocurrency tag with storm so that thy can get followers fast.But the truth is that you can create your blog around any topic you chose
ONO gives you the ability to display ads on your Blog. And building your blog around a topic may make it easier for run ads based on the kind of content you publish
But when creating a Niche you have to ensure that it is a topic you have interest in so that you can consistently create the type of content that invokes interest and learning for others. Without this it will be nearly Impossible for you to create an engaged audience
Define Your Audience
When creating a product or service, you have to determine who you are creating in for. Your target audience does not develop on its own. You have to plan it out . This is very crucial as it will dictate the kind of interaction you have with your audience
When it comes to Interaction you also have to approach it with humility.
Every Teacher was Once A Student
Hi @ogochukwu
Thanks for taking out time to post this article about ONO and content creation. I'm looking forward to see ONO launched next month....
The statement that really struck me in your post is
" I know that we all want to write post that makes hundreds of dollars and turn out to become Whales. But true wealth comes from value creation. The key to making it on Steemit or any other Blockchain Social Media that pays you for content is by creating Value and you also have to look beyond the reward pool. The fact that it exists does not mean that all your rewards should come from ther"
That statement is true. We must and should come to the point where we are content creating oriented and not just money oriented. Allot of people are on the blog chain community with the sole aim of just making money without creating values.
I believe if we begin to focus more on creating content and sharing values, success will not be a stranger to us.
@kingsley-clement
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts @kingsley-clement.
Value creation should be always paramount
WoW! You uncovered an entire new world for me with your article. Thanks for that.
There is just one aspect that I cannot agree with. You stated:
Asking people to use these vote bots simply transfers more wealth to those already at the top (increasing the divide between the haves and the have-nots) and creating a pay-to-play environment. Personally, I wish that everyone stopped using these pay-to-vote bots because they are really not much different than self-voting! Those with the means can actually double-dip by self-voting and buying big votes. If everyone stopped using these bots, they would soon disappear out of redundancy and the platform would return to resembling what the original idea behind it was supposed to look like.
Anyway, thanks for the eye-opener!
Thanks for reading and your engaging comment @happyme
Often times its easy to forget that social media is supposed to be a platform to socialize, meet people and learn new idea.
I'm beginning to get that and and funny as it seems that's when i started getting rewards, and the reward in turn encourages me to even get out there and do more, meeting people and all of that.
This post is practically every thing One needs to know about branding and getting an audience even in the real world outside internet.
I haven't had time to research about ONO but with this I cant wait for this new world.
Thank you for this @ogochukwu the wisest 😀
I will advice you to make out time to study the ONO white paper. It details out how the Platform will work.
@ogochukwu that is a great post ,from the structure to the message and the points makes the post more valuable and understandable to those who dont even know about crypto.
you just used this post to give me some hightlight towards ONO. and i tell you that is a welcomed venture, and i appreciate the people who are making this bold step in making it a success .
But this you definition of community is what they told us in primary school
[ A community is a group of people with common culture and belief)
But my question is if all of them believe in one thing where
what if they encounter problems that is outside there zone how will they see to it
remember variety is the spice of life.
@ogochukwu if you are a lecturer you will have the best student ever.
thanks and God bless you.
Communities can always vote to change things through consensus. I don't believe they will hold on to anything that will have adverse effects on their growth.
Thanks for this amazing comment @egbujorvictor
i appreciate @ogochukwu the guru.
Hey @ogochukwu,
Firstly, awesome post. I've been away from Steemit (perhaps technology as a whole), and it's nice to be welcomed by an article that at least gives me the first steps towards understanding ONO.
Now I noticed you defined a few terms in this post, but there's one I always see around Steemit, and sometimes your articles, that seems really vague.
"Community builder"
It's an idea that fills me with equal parts wonder and confusion. Whenever I see it I imagine a squad of coders hacking away at lit up keyboards in dark rooms, doing things I won't begin to understand at 45 if I started right now.
On some level, I know that's not it. At least, this article has helped right that logic to some degree with the definition of community. But that raises a whole new problem for me and I presume some others;
"What Communities Can WE build?"
You spoke of a guy writing about pigs as an example, but suppose a guy like that existed? How would he help build the community? As I write this I have a 700 word article on my laptop (unedited and unposted) that stemmed from me wondering why I found it so easy to kill a roach in front of my girlfriend.
That's what I'M good at. That's MY niche. And I like to think it's stuff that people would like to read, and in some sense it is. It could gather a following.
But if you were looking to build a community, would you gaze upon my roach related musings and say, "I want THAT guy?"
And in the off chance that you would, what could I do to help?
Thanks.
@barrister-batman
Lol, @barrister-batman i personally dont know you, but i think having me as an audience for your Roach Adventures who depend on your delivery.
I believe its one thing to have a content and then its another thing to know how best to deliver it and make it Engaging (yup thats the word).
Its all about your Delivery and Engagement. ☺
Thanks @ifechi-works,
Well I think it's safe to say my delivery is solid. I often spend a lot of time (a little too much some might say) cleaning up my articles for maximum...gravitas 😅
Thanks for the tip.
Lol. Great. I will check your blog ☺
I know you fairly and I can say that you are a movie and game freak.
This means that you can build a gaming or movie community here on Steemit. There is no factory specification.
Communities are made up of Flesh and Blood and these things can be shaped into whatever mode desired.
So if you want to help find out ways to add value to people who talk about what you are familiar with.
@ogochukwu.
Thanks @ogochukwu, I'll definitely look into that.
There are some restrictions that may hold me back (Cinema ooo😢), but I'll definitely find some way around them🙏
Uffz. This was very long and emotional and in the end i still was not sure what you were saying.
I struggle a bit with ono, that there is so much fluff. Anytime i try to understand ono i get overwhelmed with inconsequential emotional fluff instead simple and clear description of working or concepts. Ie here the title says “business model” which is something one should be able to explain in a few sentence, but i found none. It often feels like influencer have been ....mhh... bought to push the new platform. This is generally a red flag to me.
Humans are definitely the key to success on steemit and ONO. I actually thought I would try ONO and just do it without interacting with people, but now, I know the implication of my thoughts, thanks to you.
You are a good teacher, and it is difficult believing that you were once a student.
By the way, I know we can create our blogs around any topic we chose, but I think topics on cryptocurrency would achieve the aim better.
@ogochukwu I must say you did a very detailed work enlightening the general populace about ono.
Well I think ono. Is the promise land that we have been waiting for. From my few months on steemit I have already detected so many flaws, initially when I came on board I was very keen and zealous to advertise the platform to friends and foe, but that zeal sublimed few weeks back.
If ono. Can solve the problem of governance, then that might be a stepping stone to the "promise land".
I also believe in community building, I would rather put an effort to build in a place that appreciates your efforts (I think ono. Would do that from what I read)
Majority of steemians came in for the money, with little or nothing to exchange for the money. This is appalling . I still respect people like @nairadaddy of @air-clinic. @ejamai of @stach for their little but mighty contributions to the steemit ecosystem. Never got time to keep up with @Stebelle but I think she is a wise woman judging from her hackernoon's blog I discovered lately.
If steemit can have competition from uprising decentralized social media platforms ,then I think steemit would not veer towards centralization because that is how it's looking.
I am patiently waiting for ono. Like a proud expectant father come may. Thanks for this lovely post ,it just made my day.
@antigenx
Hmm you spelled out some strong points here. Like you I believe that the only thing that can make Steemit stronger is competition.
We will just have to wait and see about ONO.
@ogochukwu
ONO! ONO! ONO!
This has been ringing as a bell in my little community. But I love as this post addressed many things concerning ones who took crypto/blockchain as a ponzi scheme.
I was introduced to this platform for the reward notion. But on coming here I noticed is more of just reaping reward.
We build yourself in writing, reading, socializing with other and then adding value to other persons life.
Yes, ONO will be a big hit in blockchain, but if one can't create a brand here @steemit it will be hard to do that on the yet to come platform. Thanks to persons like @ejemai and @stellabelle mentioned above.
Dear @ogochukwu, you have been adding value to this platform. Please keep it up.
Thank you for your vote of confidence. I try my best to bring something good to the Table
@godswill
I think another thing worth mentioning is the super partners. Those who'll be in charge of sifting through to remove negative contents. Growth and reputation will be organic and as such, creates a level playing field for everyone.
Great post @ogochukwu
Thats very true. The Importance of organic growth cannot be overemphasized. And this will enable anyone who really gives value to the system to experience growth
@molokwu
It seem quite a number of interesting people are going be over there. It will be interesting to see how they want to do something and what actual reality is down the road. Things end up changing so much due to users not using a product or service in the way the creates where hoping for. We can see quite a few odd things on steemit that feel that way.
I just finished watching a dvd movie called The Circle. It is about a social media site that collects data on everyone for profit. The founder lost control and is against what it has become. Does that sound kind of familiar? Is that why Dan left and started EOS? ONO is built on EOS. Is this a second try at getting it right?
Only time will tell. This site has always had that social experiment feeling in it. Let the animals run wild and do what ever they want almost. See what happens.
That's very true @enjar. The way Steemit is now is not the way @dan envisioned it. lets just hope that ONO meets up to its expectations.
@ogochukwu
Well i must say i actually know nothing about Ono this actually call for more research.
Understanding human, i got to understand that from @surpassinggoogle, after enough thought of what he mean by the human behind steemit. God bless your knowledge @ogochukwu for this detailed post of yours.
Thanks for reading @mayowadavid
@surpassinggoogle is someone who knows what community building is all about
Hey @ogochukwu, love your analysis!
"Be the one who builds something, rather than the ones who is looking for ways to benefit."
We all need to learn how to give rather than resorting to our reflex action of taking.
Thanks for reading and your feedback @joeylim
Your article really helped me to understand the concept of ONO a bit better, @ogochukwu! In the recent days ONO has been all over steemit, but it has still remained hard to grasp what it actual about and in particular how it is supposed to be better and overcome the issues we know from Facebook as well as Steemit. The democratic concept, and the importance of community (self-)regulation is something very promising (and as you say, despite all the issues, very palpable with Steem, and suprising if you havent known it before). What i still fail to see, is how this system can prevent the development of social bubbles that reinforce themselves, fade out controversial points of views and finalise radicalise, and potentially vote out moderators who try to well... achieve moderation. Maybe this is a pessimistic stance, but i believe something a next gen network needs to adress.
Coins mentioned in post:
I'm much happier that I'm here to read this article.
Good write up about ONO. Informative and spot on.
