Imagine if we could all join together to change the world...
To make it a place where:
Race does not matter.
Gender does not matter.
Religious affiliation does not matter.
Sexual affiliation does not matter.
Socio-economic status does not matter.
How you identify does not matter.
The only thing that matters...is you.
Every single one of you. All of us, joining together.
To become we.
Think of the power in that...
The power of we...
Imagine how we could change the world.
We could break down all of the barriers that keep us apart.
We could learn that we're not so different, that the things that separate us are not nearly as powerful as those that bring us together.
By doing so,
We could overcome hate.
We could overcome discrimination.
We could overcome cyberbullying.
We could save our children by loving ourselves and one another.
We can show them there is a better way, by creating a better way.
You may be thinking that it's impossible. That there is no way things could change that drastically in our lifetimes.
I get the cynicism. After all, look at the world we live in, right?
You go on Facebook and see arguments, hateful comments, children and adults alike picking on one another, all trying to prove they're better than another person, that they're the only ones right.
Twitter is a world divided. A world where even if you aren't on one side or another, you're still wrong.
YouTube videos glorify violence and anger. Children are filming other children fighting in the streets.
And on and on and on.
But we can change this.
All it takes is a choice to be the change we want to see.
And when we come together on one platform that believes in the hope we are so desperately clinging to, imagine what a force we would be.
A couple days ago, I found out that platform exists. I learned that there are people with the knowledge and more importantly, the dream and the vision to make it come to fruition.
That platform is ONO - and it can change the world.
The values of ONO in a nutshell: treat people like you would like to be treated.
But it's up to us to make sure it happens.
Each one of us, every person reading this right now, has a choice.
Do you want to go on doing the same thing every day? Turning a blind eye to the hate that's all around us? Or worse, suffering in silence because you don't have a voice (or are too scared to use it)?
Or do you want to choose to better yourself by joining with others that want to make the world a better place?
I know my choice.

Wow @ambrosial, this post is really something!! Just so you know, I'm the wife of @briancourteau; the post of @davemccoy's that you highlight was for him...but I think you already know that ;) Brian and I are still in awe of the support that this community gave us and continues to show us daily. It is beyond beautiful, and if ONO promises that kind of compassion, then it is something worth exploring for sure!

In terms of ONO, just curious, but can you or will you co-exist in both steemit and ONO? I did see @maverickinvictus' post and I know he did not feel the platforms to be competing in any way, I'm just curious how you see it working. This is all new to me, so forgive my ignorance...it's more curiosity on my part because I love the ideals that it is based upon!
Edit: I see that your most recent post is already at the $5 mark, so not sure if it 'qualifies' for unnoticed, but I submitted it regardless :)
Hi @lynncoyle - of course I know who you are 😊 I can't do much myself for you guys but I figure what I can do is try to make sure as many people as I can see it. My heart goes out to you both and I really wish I could do more. You both inspire me and are in my thoughts and prayers.
I only learned about ONO right before I did this post, and it really resonated with me. Ke Xu's vision is quite something. A company putting their people first and actually caring about their users is refreshing. And I believe the fact she rejected ICOs in favor of building the community shows that she means it and that it's not about the money for capitalists, it's about the people.
I know how lofty my idea of what it could be is, but I believe that change happens one person at a time. Get enough of the right people in the right place, and who knows what could happen. 😏
As far as ONO and Steemit, I am planning on still doing both. I think they will complement one another well. It seems that ONO is going to be more short-form. As you can see by my posts, I can be a little long-winded lol - I won't know for sure until I can get into it and really see how it works, but my thoughts are putting a TL/DR version with graphics on ONO, and linking to the longer-form content here on Steemit. Obviously not copying and pasting, just tailoring the content to the different platform's consumers.
And it's not ignorance at all! I'm really curious as to how it's going to work as well and I have a ton of questions still. I really can't wait until the International release and crossing my fingers I get an invite code. Are you two involved at all? If not, I'd recommend joining the English Telegram group so you can stay updated. I'd love to say that'll automatically get you an invite code but I honestly don't know how that is going to work. Everyone is on pins and needles and hoping lol but I think you guys would fit in great.

ONO sounds very cool indeed, although like you, I tend to lean on the long-winded side myself lol , but I will join the English Telegram group just to stay updated and see where it all goes. I totally understand about the 'invite' part of it all, but I appreciate your sentiment towards us "fitting in".
You are welcome about the asapers submission as well. It's never a huge post payout, but the recognition is always nice. I am a firm believer in genuine commenting as a way to be "successful" here; without that, there are no genuine connections made either, and then all you have is another awful platform like FB :)

Freedom and caring for your fellow man are just some of the things that resonate with me on this platform and I have high hopes for Ono!
I truly believe that if ONO works as planned and they get a following like Facebook, there could be massive shifts in many parts of the global dynamics. From a deeper understanding between varying cultures to the empowerment of millions, what could be brought forth from this is astounding. Not to mention what it could mean for third-world countries that have access.
And what caring people could accomplish for them! It really is exciting and I am anxiously awaiting it to unfold to see where it goes! 😊
