“Dear President Trump, listen very carefully. Greenland have been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years. It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale. Let me put it in words you might understand. Mr. Trump, fuck off.” — Danish MP Anders Vistisen, addressing the European Parliament.

Trump Demands Apology From Episcopal Church
…Trump demanded an apology from the Episcopal Church after Bishop Mariann Budde tore into him during a national prayer service.
Said Trump: “The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart.“
He added: “Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!”
Call it a guess, but no apology will be forthcoming.

Republicans Fall in Line Behind Trump’s Pardons
When the idea of pardons for Jan. 6 defendants first circulated, the pushback from Republican senators was pretty swift. And even the few who entertained the idea drew a line at pardoning the violent ones…
But now that President Donald Trump has gone there and granted clemency to every Jan. 6 defendant — including those who assaulted police — the response from Republicans has been strikingly muted. And some are even giving Trump a nod of approval, a remarkable episode that shows how Trump gradually lures his party to vouch for the previously unthinkable.
Trump Pushes GOP Leaders on Recess Appointments
President Donald Trump prodded congressional leaders to consider recess appointments for his top nominees and expressed interest in trading California wildfire aid for a debt limit increase in a White House meeting Tuesday — resurfacing two controversial proposals floated during the returning president’s transition.
Why would he think these could happen? Why would any Democrat even consider helping him out? Even if squeaking through the House, both ideas would be D.O.A. In the Senate where he couldn’t get 60 votes.
Trump Seeks Renegotiated Trade Deal with Mexico, Canada
President Trump is using the threat of imposing stiff tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico as soon as next week to pressure the two nations to start renegotiating a continental trade deal.
Trump is particularly focused on using the threat of tariffs to change automotive rules under the continental trade pact, forcing car plants to move from Canada and Mexico back to the U.S.
Yeah, good luck with that. The automobile/truck sectors are key parts of the economies of both countries.

Democrats Plot Strategy to Fight Trump on Funding Freeze
Less than 24 hours after President Donald Trump’s Day One blitz of executive actions, Democrats on Capitol Hill mobilized Tuesday to fight his move to freeze a broad range of federal cash.
It’s Democratic leadership’s first steps in coordinating a united front against what they see as the Trump administration’s violation of impoundment law, which is meant to block presidents from withholding money Congress has previously passed through the Congressional appropriations process.
Federal Employees Union Sues Trump
The National Treasury Employees Union said on Tuesday that it has sued President Trump to block an executive order that would enable him to fire career federal workers across the government.
The order signed on Monday evening, known as ‘Schedule F,’ would empower the Trump administration to strip job protections from many career federal employees — who are supposed to be hired based on merit and cannot be arbitrarily fired.

Hegseth is an unconventional choice for Secretary Defense. I'm Republican or perhaps more properly republicanist, and he wouldn't have been my first choice or 10th. One of Trump's weaknesses is he surrounds himself with people who praise him, and Hegseth on Fox News was definitely a cheerleader.
I don't believe that Hegseth has the requisite experience to be the Secretary of Defense, he is a decorated veterans but has no significant experience at higher levels of organizational leadership. The Department of Defense is a leviathan and that takes some sophistication and discernment to steer well. Arguably his predescors have not done fantastic jobs either, but I would have preferred a more conventional choice.
