Street kid on his way to becoming a medical doctor!

Today, I received some great to news from one of the beneficiaries in my home. His name is FJ. After spending 8 years with me, he is on his way to becoming a medical doctor. His JAMB result reveals he scored an agregate of 301.
In 2014, I picked him off the streets of Port Harcourt. He was just 9 years old. He used to live precisely on the streets of Artillery with other street connected children.
His father died and his mum remarried. Leaving him under the care of an aunt who starved and abused him.she Bluntly refused to send him to school.He sold sachet water for his Aunt. One day, he met some friends who promised him a better life. He followed them all the way from Akwaibom and found himself on the streets of Port Harcourt.
Life on the street was so difficult, especially when it rains. He did a lot of menial jobs in order to survive. His jobs include, cleaning car windshields, disposing refuse, carrying luggages for commuters and hawking sachet water.

After his daily hustle, he retires to his corner located right at the bus Stop. He suffered a great deal in the hands of the older street children and security agents. They beat him up regularly and collected all the money he makes for The day.
Luckily, our field team started visiting his location. We learnt of his willingness to go to school. So we picked him up, admitted him into the home and taught him how to read. Today he is on his way to becoming a medical doctor..

My greatest reward is seeing the spark light up in his eyes. Today I am so happy. My joy knows no bound
