I've Been Discriminated by my AGE on a Job that I was applying.

Today, May 16, 2022 was my first time that my age had been an issue or would be the reason why I don't get hired.

Yesterday, I applied and pass my resume online in Giordano Clothing Outlet here in Sm Marilao Bulacan. All the application was done via online. I saw their post in a Job hiring group and I sent my resume on their email address.

After few minutes, I recieved this text message that they schedule me for an interview tomorrow at 3 in the afternoon. I woke up early and prepare myself for the possible question they would ask me.

Then they sent a message again and read it very late. They moved the interview schedule earlier this time at 1 in the afternoon. I move quickly and dressed myself up.

I feel tense and in a rush because my travel time requires atleast 1 hour. To cut the story travel short, good thing I made it to arrived in the store at 12:45 pm. They took my resume and began my interview.

After that interview with that man in charge, the other lady took my resume and ask me few questions like the requirements that is needed.

After she asked for my age and after finding it out that my age was 32, she was kinda shock and her tone of voice suddenly changed. Then she talked to the that first person who interview me and they told me that they needed to asked first in their office first.

So I told them that, "no it's okay to me" and added this... "Honestly it is the first time that it happens to me". But the lady answer back that she would text or call me for an update but I will never expect them to call me back.

They tried to insist that they were not discriminating me. At that point I told them that it was my first time to be in that situation. I really felt that bad and ashame of myself. In the first place, they didn't indicate that there is an age limit that's why I tried to sent my CV on their email.

I will never forget this job interview, never in my life. That the sad reality that the poor age standard in the Philippines are awful and discrimination

I am amazed in other countries that still hires over age applicant if still qualified in experience at in a good state of mind and body. This matter still missing for an individual applicant who is over the age of 30. We struggle to find job especially on malls.

Anyway, I would take this experience as part bad experience that I learned today. Tomorrow I have 2 job interviews and hoping to get a job any of these two companies who invites me in an interview.

Glad to share my ups and down in this platform. After all, I'd still had an optimistic outlook and the regret is not mine in the end. Thanks and be safe!
