What is it like to be part of OCD? Our curators speak out

in #ocd7 years ago

To keep this project fresh and full of new ideas, @ocd has brought in new curators everytime @acidyo considers it necessary. From early adopters to 3rd Gen curators and international members, our team keeps growing bigger every day, and we could not be happier about it.

Below, you can read about what it means to be part of OCD for the curators who joined the guild at some point along the way between day 1 and day 100.

Everybody knows that OCD is an amazing project but less people are actually aware of the minds behind it, the people who wrap everything up, the people who make the magic happen and that is really sad since they are the engine of this project as your great posts are its fuel.

We are a team of nomads, photographers, painters, anarchists, geeks, cryptopreneurs, scientists, students, husbands and wives, but at the end of the day we are all just simple people, simple Steemians trying to help others, trying to make history.

For me, OCD is not just a project nor just a way of promoting and rewarding great content but something more, my Steemit Family.

Acidyo approached me relatively at the beginning of OCD and asked if I wanted to join as a science curator. Being already a part of steemSTEM, I had (and still have) a great interest in supporting new and good science writers on steemit, because steemit needs a strong scientific community, in my opinion.

It's not always easy but I think I've been able to (with the help of the rest of the OCD team) help jump-start some steemit careers.

Since I joined Steemit (some hundred days ago), I always felt the need to give back to the wonderful community of people. I found out about OCD after one of my posts were nominated for their compilation. Later I met @Acidyo and he approached me with an offer to become part of OCD curation team, which I, after careful consideration, then accepted.

So far my OCD journey has been awesome. It is fun to wander around Steemit tags and look for quality content and amazing humans. I believe we all need a little push, little encouragement sometimes and it makes me so happy to help someone!

For quite a while now I have been heavily involved in the steemit.chat community, helping newcomers, making connections, and getting involved in everything I can. I realized early on that my vote means so much more to a new person than a whale who probably will never know I voted. Ignoring curation rewards I made it my duty to help and nurture the new talent I found coming in and out of chat.

After a while I built a friendship with @acidyo and learned of the @ocd project (having been nominated twice). Never did I think I would get to be a part of it until I was asked to join. Never has something felt more natural, my fellow @ocd curators have been nothing but helpful and supportive and it is so much fun being able to find and reward quality work with them.

So, when I got into OCD I was still fresh on steemit, for just about a month or something like that. Still learning the ropes on the trends of steemit. A friend told me about this guild, @GuyFawkes4-20, and tought I would be a good addition in there, so after a few weeks I got in it.

Now, about a month later I'm happy to say that what we do in here is just amazing, trying to make this great community even better by helping people with awesome posts.

So far, I've been doing good, a few hiccups here and there but it wall worked out. I never thought you could help people so much just by sitting in the front of the computer or a phone.

For me, being part of OCD curation it's something I am really proud of.
I feel so honnored to be able to curate good french posts, but what drives me more is that I know that the upvote of OCD will keep my so little french community here on Steem. They feel recognise, they feel supported and then, they stay and bring people...

When I first arrived, 4 months ago, I was feeling so alone, nobody to see my good content. It was frustraying but I keep on going. Days, after days. I needed strenght and perseverance and itwasn't easy. So, I always think to my french steemit newbie here and I am so happy that they will feel recognise with a huge upvote.

I feel so gratefull to @anomadsoul that I didn't even know at that time ... to tell me about OCD otherwise we would have people speaking french but not into the community at all to do the curation. My role is to keep the french community motivated on the plateform and OCD give me this opportunity. So... even if it takes time, I love to read the french articles (what I was already doing everyday) and give them the chance to be nominate. @Acidyo Thanks again for setting up this initiative, and giving us the opportunity to be part of it.

I am quite new on Steemit (May '17) and very new as an OCD language curator(just done with my first 2 weeks of curation in Italian!), but I was lucky enough to be appreciated for my work from the one and only, the amazing @Acidyo and honored to join the OCD team which I am grateful for! I also web-met some incredible and talented people so far, @anomadsoul @GuyFawkes4-20 @thethirdeye @mk40 only to name just a few (hopefully see you all in Lisbon?!), so I think my initial excitement will never go away!

Steemit grows fast and I proudly grow and expand myself with it as part of a multi-language and super intellectual team like OCD! What can I say? I love creating and curating original and interesting content so being a member of the team feels like it is where I belong! Happy 100 issues and to many many more, to 1000 and to a million! Happy and proud to be OCD material because to me OCD means Original Creative Dream! Cheers y'all!

As you can see, every curator has a different background, diverse interests and a unique posting style thus they all have a different opinion about OCD, but the one thing in common is: being part of OCD completely changed their lives here on Steemit.

The OCD team would also like to thank those that strive to make a difference. As anyone can create a post but only some can create/build value.

Keep up the good work creating original content

You never know when @ocd may be around :)

Know that your Resteem supports undervalued authors!

very nice article and thank you for doing a great job. Nice to know people like you are on here, and just found you so now following you and upvoting you as well.

Love your project ;)

All of you have awesome thoughts on what you OCD journey has been. Indeed, you people (steemians) helps a lot of other ones and the best and more important part, is that you encourage people to keep creating, writing and sharing, that's the goal for me and for humanity, learn, create, share and be happy in the process :) Thanks OCD and by OCD I mean all of you who are behind the blue whale, thanks for caring and for supporting all steemians around the world. Keep rocking!

great work.. i really appreciate it.. and would love to see more posts like this... amazing... i upvote..

Great post sir

good post ,,,
my friend has ever made a post about OCD resteem ,, but why not go into my post ,,,

Thanks for what you do!! It is really nice for new authors to be "discovered" and rewarded for their efforts!!

Idea and project are super fresh! I wish you best of luck, I wish we have more projects like this. Keep up with good work guys!

Keep up the good work guys and gals! :)

Cool, I'm glad to know a bit more about the people behind the #ocd curation process. This looks like a good mix of head and heart, with creative professionals and rational thinkers. Week after week, I've enjoyed your discoveries, and I eagerly anticipate the day when a post of my own appears there. ;)

Just had an idea... it seems that every @OCD issue has some big upvotes, and that is marvelous ... is there any way or in fact is it occurring at all that those selected for @OCD also get an automatic upvote or share?

Another idea is to have a discord page or a group or #tag post set-up for everyone that is ever selected by @OCD. @accelerator does something like this, don't know how successful it really is. If it was like #OCD-Net everyone ever featured could post there, be a way for good bloggers to network and upvote/support each other, etc.

Hi @clumsysilverdad, all the posts featured in the OCD issues get upvotes from @Acidyo, rising their rewards up to around $20. :)
Interesting suggestion, we may think about it.

Really? That is great... I could have sworn I found ones that weren't , but I'm probably confusing with another curation.

What should I do to get in @ocd curation programm? Sory if my question is incorrecn, im almost first day at steemit=)

Que increíble trabajo, leyendo algunas publicaciones me llamo la atención saber sobre ustedes y me alegra saber que valoran el contenido de calidad. Felicidades es una gran labor saludos desde Venezuela.
