Cut Meutia is The Indonesian National Heroine from Aceh//The Journey to Cut Meutia`s House

It was the last day of training of enhancing the english teachers' competency held by the Branch of Provincial Education Board in Lhokseumawe city. We, in a group, were assigned to apply the project-based learning as the final task of the training. This learning model is one of learning models used in Curriculum 2013. This assignment was given in order to give deep comprehension for the teachers about how the syntax or the process of project-based learning should be done by the students.

The objective of the the assignment is about Cut Meutia`s house. Each group had different English subject matter; descriptive text, announcement, narrative text and news item.

Cut Meutia's house used as a museum is as a tribute to National Heroine from Aceh, Cut Meutia. Cut Meutia was born in 1870. She was a daughter of Acehnese aristocrat, Teuku Ben Daud Pirak and Cut Jah. She was motivated by the fighting spirit of her father in struggling the colonialist. She and her husband struggled against the colonialist.

We and the instructor, Mr Fathur Rohim left to Matang Kuli, North Aceh, where the Cut Meutia`s House located. It was about an hour from Lhokseumawe. We went by a school bus.

Mr. Fathur gave the direction about the implementation of project-based learning in the bus.

We arrived at the destination, outside Cut Meutia's House.

Here it is Cut Meutia`s House. This is what Aceh's house was like in the past.

Besides Cut Meutia's House, there are some other traditional objects around the house. those are jeungki (rice grinder tool), balai (traditional hall), kroeng (rice storage container and Cut Meutia monument.

This is the monument of Cut Meutia, as a form of respect for Cut Meutia's sacrifice against colonialist. I took a photo in front of the monument.

It was an unforgettable moment visiting this historical place with my colleagues. We got not only experience but also knowledge about the history of Cut Meutia. Thanks a million for our instructor and my colleagues for this togetherness.
