Why do you think what you think?

in #ocd4 years ago

How much of what you think is trully the product of your own mind? As soon as we wake up from our beds in the morning our mind is primed with ideas through words, visuals, sensory things. We like to believe we are the masters of our mind, but after reading this book... You might think otherwise. Reading this will change your perspective on your own perspective. Stay with me on this, you'll like this one.

This book by Daniel Kahneman, the winner of a Nobel prize, Thinking fast and slow is amazing. I paused so many times while reading it, standing in complete mental revelation mode. We are such a complex thinking machine, but we have a serious flaw: we are poor intuitive statisticians. Our adversity towards losses and our biases, together with our cognitive illusions and fallacies make us weak in front of influences and manipulation.

I loved the groundbreaking pages about trading and traders. This book is a mix of economics, psychology and statistics. A well balanced blend of informations which take the name of behavioural economics. Reading this book is almost a necessity for those who take pride in making good decisions, especially in the financial area. No rich man will ever pretend he is smart enough to stop learning or to re-evaluate his own thinking process and decision making.

My complete 2 hours long video with a detailed review of this extraordinary book is available on my Youtube channel. Enjoy!

P. S. I am thinking about a special short series of videos which I will make exclusively for 3speak to talk briefly about my books, because the lenght of my videos is too big for me to upload them on @Threespeak. Stay tuned, I will make a little corner for education from my 3speak channel. I received this wonderful suggestion from my friend @looftee.

Have an awesome day and toodle loo!

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars but in ourselves, that we are underlings

Oh this is beautiful! Thank you!

I think I need to read it... looks very interesting book 👀👀👀👌

Hey! I definetely recommend it to you. It is quite complex, I myself found it pretty tough to read but once you get to the bottom of it, you won't be able to take your hands off. I believe that it is very interesting yo mix economics with psychology and therefore get a hold of our choices (ours really?).

No wonder the author won a Nobel prize for economics, it is really filled with a lot of interesting things. The neurons might soar a little and the brain might have some spasmes after the reading, but that's only because the book really puts your mind at work. One of the toughest reads for me this year and one of the most rewarding.

Thank you for stopping by and making time to read this. Have a lovely day!

!ENGAGE 10

I completely believe what you are saying, I just have to hope it is also in Estonian language 👌☺👌👌

Ok I am sure they must have😊

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

It looks like an interesting book. I will try to make time to read it.

Hey! Very good, I am pleased you liked my review. I must admit it was a hard read, even for me. But sometimes we have to read the hard books in order to make our lives easier.

It is actually useful that the book is backed up with lots of statistics and scientific studies. It makes its discoveries and theories much more appealing!

No wonder the author took a Nobel prize, his mind works like a well oiled machine.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Would LOVE to read that!

How much of what you think is truly the product of your own mind?

What an incredibly thought provoking question in itself and no doubt the stat results would be alarming in terms of what actually comes from within and what doesn't.

Quite the art to master really...

Hey Jaynie! I think you would love this! It is indeed a thought provoking question. We rarely think of it because most of the times we are too preocupied with life in itself.

It is very easy to believe that we are in control. Our ego won't let us admit our own failure in the way we think. We can make bad decisions and not even think about it, questioning ourselves :why?

I think it is very important to raise an alarm signal like you said in case we notice that our thoughts.... Are not our own at all. Especially nowadays with social media, technology invasion lol, our minds are much more exposed.

There was a saying I remember from a wise man, telling to always keep your guards awake to guard the gates to your mind. I find so much wisdom and truth to that.

I appreciate you took the time to read this, have a lovely day and thank you for the tip, you're always so nice🤗💐

Especially nowadays with social media, technology invasion

BINGO!

Love that quote and from what you have shared in your post and now, I definitely know I would enjoy this! Now... all I have to manage is staying awake for longer than one paragraph hehe... I used to read a lot but these days I fall straight asleep lol... getting old!

It is a pleasure!

Have a super day further - whatever the timezone :D

Hey! Hahaha I get you, I am sure once you start the ideas you get from the book will not let you sleep so easily.

For me it is like this when I want to watch a movie. I just fall asleep lol. Sometimes it happened to have to try 5-6 times to watch it in sequences 😂😂😂 I am sure the movie directors do not make the movies with this intention. Hahaha

Thank you, EEST Romania time zone. Time for sleep, you have a great day Jaynie 🇷🇴😊

For me it is like this when I want to watch a movie. I just fall asleep lol. Sometimes it happened to have to try 5-6 times to watch it in sequences

I have this problem too lol!!!

Sweet dreams!

It's gonna go to my shopping list. This should be very fun to read! :)

There's a similar book called FACTFULNESS. It is a good one to change the view towards our world.

Hey Mamali! Thank you for reading this! I believe this book is right up your alley. It is very difficult to read at the beginning, but after a bit of time, you will love it. We always want to improve and become better people, but we rarely consider changing the way we think. And we must begin that just by asking this simple question : why do I think the way I think and where do my thoughts come from? We often get inoculated with various information which makes us take decisions and form long term opinion. But how true to ourselves are we?

The biggest problem of human thinking is that we like to believe we are more rational than we trully are.

This book can lead us towards some ways to redirect ourselves towards the true paths of reasoning.

Your book recommandation sounds interesting, I will check it out!

Wow! This must be something very eye opening! Now I'm even more eager to get my hands on it. :D

Hehe, I am so happy that you feel this way, I have noticed that many people felt intrigued by this book and felt the same way you felt. I can already tell that you will love it and learn and apply so much from it!

Wow, thanks a lot for considering my idea. You are gonna do a wonderful job with your videos on 3speak.

Hey! The honour is mine, I always appreciate a good idea, especially if it's connected to books and education. I could not possibly not mention you😊📚

Thanks... waiting for your first video then!

Yes, I will get to work on that😊😍
