Time - Based Decisions

Clear your mind before making important decisions...

I was faced with making a decision yesterday that would affect my life in the near future and all I could do at that moment was sit, close my eyes, breathe and imagine myself two years from now...would I be happy where I'll be, making waves in my chosen career path?

The man with no imagination has no wings...Mustafa Kemal Ataturk

Next I answered these four questions (I stumbled across while reading one of Ben Carson's books years back), which has always helped me for a long time now;

  1. What's the best thing that would happen if I follow this path?
  2. What's the worse that would happen of I choose this path?
  3. What's the best thing that would happen if I do not follow this path?
  4. What's the worse that would happen if i don't go this direction?

Answering these questions honestly opens my mind to the various possibilities I could face in my current dilemma and sometimes, also beats my idea of getting a pen and notepad to jot down the pros and cons of a new venture!

Usually, i don't involve people in my business (oh, except family of course) but there are certain areas of your life when you need to consult the intelligence of those that have walked that path before you. So this I did, spoke to a higher colleague and somewhat got clarifications on some lingering questions.

So these added to the comparative analysis of the benefit outweighing the risks or the risks outweighing the benefits, coupled with consulting my creator did the trick.

So guys, when faced with that big decision, how do you go on about it...?

Ur process is very similar to mine.I look at the cons and pro of the decision before making my choice.Sometime I sleep on it so I can avoid making a hasty decision especially if emotions are involved.
