“When we give from the heart, we do so out of the joy that springs forth whenever we willingly enrich another person’s life. This kind of giving benefits both the giver and the receiver. The receiver enjoys the gift without worrying about the consequences that accompany gifts given out of fear, guilt, shame, or desire for gain. The giver benefits from the enhanced self-esteem that results when we see our efforts contributing to someone’s well-being.” - Marshall Rosenberg

This is a quote from Marshall Rosenberg (who wrote the book “Non Violent Communication”).
To me it signifies that giving is an act of love, and that the experience of love is the primary motivator behind any true act of giving.
The giving of the gift is an outward expression of what you value most within yourself.
If you value learning and development then you will be kind to others in a way that honours their intelligence.
If you value adventure and risk taking then you will share your resources with those who are brave or curious enough to join you.
If you value expression then you will share your artistic creations with others, and so on.
If you value love, then you will love, and that is what will shape your relationships with others.

What do you value? How do you share love?
