NUTRITIONAL BENEFIT OF FRUITS

Fruits are important source of Vitamins and Carbohydrates like Fiber and Sugar. They are low in Calories and naturally sweet. Fruits and their Juice are good source of water. Different Fruits contain different Vitamins so it is important to eat variety of Fruits. Mangoes, Papayas, Melons and Citrus Fruits like Orange and Grape Fruits are high in Vitamin C.
Whole Fruits like Apple and Grape contain more Fiber than Fruit Juice and sauces like Apple sauce and Grape Juice. Dry Fruits like Figs, Prunes and Raisins are good source of Fiber. Canned Fruits packed in Syrup have a lot of added sugar and are high in Calories than Fresh Fruits.

IMPORTANT OF FRUIT
Importance of Fruit in Human diet is well recognised. Fruits are essential for Balanced diet and good Health. Many Fruits have medical purposes:

(A). As a source of Vitamins.

i. Vitamin A: It is a Fat soluble and essential for Growth and Reproduction deficiency, cause cessation for night blindness, and crouton of skin in children, formation of stones in kidney and bladder and pimping.

ii. Vitamin B: Deficiency cause Beriberi disease, loss of Apetite, loss in weight, fall in body temperature, sour Throat etc. It is found in Fruits like Cashew Nut, Almond, Banana, Apple, Papaya and Pomegranate.

iii. Vitamin C: It is water soluble and essential for good health. Deficiency causes unhealthy gums, tooth decay, bleeding of the gum, swelling limbs, scurvy disease, delay in wound healing, enlargement of the heart and damage if heart muscles. It is available in Fruits like Guava, Citrus Fruits, Ber, Strawberry, Pineapple etc.

(B). As a Source of Minerals.
At least Ten(10) different elements are required for proper growth and development of human body.

i. Calcium: It is needed for the development of bone absence causes Cricket, Pigeon Chest.
ii. Iron: It is essential for the body system and proper development of the human body.

(C). As a Source of Energy.
Carbohydrate and Fat provide Energy, While Protein us responsible for building of body tissue.

HEALTH BENIFS OF FRUITS
Fruit has been recognized as a good source of vitamins and minerals, and for there role in preventing vitamin C and vitamin A deficiency. Fruits are important source of many nutrients including Potassium, Fiber, Vitamin C and Folate (Folic Acid).

  • Eating a diet rich in fruit may reduce risk for Stroke, other Cardiovascular diseases and type-2-diabetes.
  • Fruit containing eating pattern is a part of an overall health diet and may protect against certain Cancer.
  • Fruit helps in maintaining optimum health due to the health promoting Photochemical.
  • One to two cups of Fruit are recommended each day, depending on the number of calories needed.

Conclusively, cultivating the habit of eating fruits is essential for the body system, so let us improve on our fruit intake......
