Executioner

ntopaz-image-0I called this post - the executioner, for a number of reasons. The outward resemblance of this bird to the executioner is one of them. You see a black mask in front of this beautiful bird.

The second reason is that this bird makes reserves for the winter, like a squirrel, or a hamster. But, she has very cruel methods of making these supplies.

This bird, catches bugs, lizards, small snakes, frogs and slugs, and strung them on sharp thorns of plants, thistle and acacia, are well suited for this. Victims die in torment, dry up, and become food for this predator, which they call - Shrike.

The third reason for this name is well known to the beekeepers. If, this bird settled near the apiary, this will be a great loss for all bee families.

This bird is very, very fond of bees.

I took this picture in a small, forest valley, near the Byk River, in Moldova.

Photos taken with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300 camera
I edited a photo in the program PhotoDirector, which I also installed on my smartphone.
