Hahaha. Assistant professor Gisle Hannemyr with the Institute of Information at the University of Oslo is another one who is willing to sacrifice whatever little reputation he got. To go down in history as one of the morons who predicted Internet was just a fad seems to be attractive for some people..I sort of feel sorry for him too. But if you go out in the media with your full name and say something this stupid - I'm sorry. You should seek a guardian or something to protect you from yourself.
But the fact that we pay taxes to keep lunatics like this old fart with a job is what provoces me the most. The fact that he's hillarious is just a bonus.
Let's see what this poor old demented excuse for a professor believes..
https://www.dn.no/nyheter/2018/01/03/1210/Teknologi/tror-hele-kryptovalutamarkedet-vil-krasje
I'm confused about this phenomena, just like everyone else. I'm one of the people who thinks this looks like the tulip bubble
Wow..did you use your professor skills to think that unique thought? I mean..not only is it totally wrong to compare tulips to cryptos, it's actually retarded. Literally retarded. But he's got one thing right, and that's the fact that he's confused. A confused old man.
Hannemyr first read about Bitcoin in 2015, and quickly read up on it. He doesn't understand what gives it value.
Ok..to be clear. I'm qouting the norwegian newspaper article :D I shit you not. This is how retarded these people are. The journalist doesn't know anything about Cryptos, and the object interviews possibly knows even less. Obviously he was reading a little bit too quickly back in 2015.
You must be stupid to invest in it. Why is a computer that makes blockchains all of a sudden something magical that people are willing to pay 20,000 dollars for it? I don't get it.
Just..what was he a professor on again? RIght..IT..at least he's not a professor of Economy..That would actually be even MORE scary.
But here comes the best part. Remember, these are not the words of a drunken heroin-addict who' s been living under a rock the past 20 years. This is a professor of IT.
When the Internet came, it's utility were OBVIOUS, and no one doubted what it's utilities were, and that this would create big values. But I can't see any parallels with Blockchain technology.
Yup! Internet came with social media, messenger, integrated payment solutions, advanced 3d online computer games, Webshops, log in solutions for banks, insurance and basically every other service.
Everyone knew that all of this would come...uh...riight.
I mean. This is not satire. This is someone who's logic and understanding of pretty much everything has gone out the window. I'm literally shaking my head. My wife asked me why I was laughing out loud. What IS this? Is this a prank? In January? In Norway's biggest and most "serious" financial newspaper? The establishment has gone full retardation.
Stay retarded!
what is it about toilet paper with a number printed on it that peaple use to trade for bread i mean BREAD delicious BREAD and the work that got into making BREAD
You are right, this is hilarious. I like your writing style.
well, there are always people who choose not to recognize that the world has changed. And what makes it more interesting is that they refused to accept anything that is fundamentally different from what they perceived the world to be.
Trust me, I worked with many people who have Professor titles and the vast majority of them hold (HODL!) the position because all smarter people switched to other branches.
I worked for a guy who was harvesting projects about the role of a common molecule in plants. 40 years of false promises, bad measurements and pure fiction.
Government payed position with no real responsibility? Just guessing :)
Right :) No working hours, no responsibilities, 3x average salary, free car, free gasoline. Did you know why Serbia is poor (and nearby countries) - because we have 10 such persons in every single institution... And because of lucrative benefits, we don't make the revolution, but simply want to swap the position in eco-system
World is changing so swiftly. Some people don't want to digest these changes. nice post keep sharing @ scandinavianlife
This is very excellent thanks

I think the blockchain and the possibilities of crypto people are embarrassing because they do not understand it.
Explained that the future holds in dematerialized, is for some people just impossible.
We are all dependent on a system based on a society and these rules, or the most unrelenting rule the world. How to make people understand that power is today to the people through a new dematerialized monetary system.
Some people in this world are starting to believe in the incredible possibilities of crypto and its technology, but today and for a few years we still have people who fear this futuristic advance.
We are ahead of most people around us who are thinking of a new scam.
There are way too many morons in high places these days.
Many are resistant to change, what surprises me is the opposition that some people are taking to this, even when they admit they do not know about the operation of blockchain technology. It's about, why criticism if you do not understand? the best thing is to close your mouth. A couple of years ago, when I did not understand Bitcoin, I just did not think about it, when I gave myself the task of investigating and learning what it was all about, I simply invested. There are many true idiots who oppose this without understanding what they are talking about. It's ridiculous.
There will be always people who think they are smarter than they actually are. They feel very confident spitting their prejudice.
This same people tend to have bad memory, so they never remember the wrong things they said in the past.
I know the type because I have seen it up close.
It's amazing how moronic these "intellectuals" can be. I guess that's what happens when everything you know was memorized from a text book.
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.

It's not that simple.
This is not just about some old dude not getting crypto.
This is supposed to be some big deal of an IT proffesor speaking to some big deal mainstream journal. And he is not only not giving any real arguments but he is clearly showing that he has no clue what he is talking about.
If I were paying taxes in Norway I would also be outraged and would like to attend one of his lectures to raise my hand and ask him if just makes up stuff as he teaches them like he did in this interview.
Isn't this fella supoosed to be the one who actually knows stuff about technology?
He misses crypto, he COMPLETELY fails on what internet was thought to be in the beggining, and the he goes to "work" to "teach" about tech.
Yeah. The problema is not only about not getting the change. It's also about not getting fired.
Upvote for the article.

Spot on. I was about to comment, but it suites better as a subcomment here. The incentives for doing a good job, staying informed and really giving the students high value, are simply not there. This is governmental "free" education. On top of this, the education system is spawning out people with diplomas that are not necessarily qualified for a position even if they have the best diplomas. But then again, what does it matter, when the social and regulatory aspect is more important than the value it produces, not to speak of governmental jobs to fill.
The most dangerous sort of people: he has no idea about the topic, but he has strong opinion about it
Only dangerous if given authority or direct power. Which is often the case in goverment position. Either its a bureaucrat, or as in this case, a goverment emplyed professor.
