Music Thoughts
Hello, Today's Music Thoughts are dedicated to my favorite music genre, Stoner rock! Stoner rock or stoner metal is a genre with origin from a lot of different genres. To be more specific, you can say it evolved from doom metal, psychedelic music, and acid rock. Stoner rock is characterized by heavy and tough guitar riffs, slow to mid-pace, heavy and distorted bass sound, melodic song, partly with elements of blues and retro production.
The style originated in the early 1990s, and can be looked at as a continuation of the hard rock. A lot of people will say that Greatful Dead from 1965, experemented with stoner rock in the early 1970s. And I totally agree! I will put some info about Greatful Dead at the end of this post, just because I think that it's the origin of "the most spiritual music genre out there", Stoner Rock!
Most people have a favorite music genre they listen to, maybe it's House music, Reagge, Rap, or somthing heavy. Mine is stoner rock/metal. What makes this my go to genre is got to be the fuzzy sound and the melodic aspects that comes with. This is my go to music when I'm feeling down or when I'm just happy. Might say stoner rock is music that is easy to enjoy whatever mood you are. it's perfect to relax to as well ;) Have fun exploring a world of fantasic musical masterpices!
KYUSS
Let's start with a really powerfull band called that is s considered to be one of the founders of the stoner rock music genre. Kyuss gained a great fanbase, and generally received good reviews, but never got a big commercial breakthrough. The band split in 1996, but guitarist Josh Homme and bassist Nick Oliveri later gained huge success with their new band Queens of the Stone Age. Personally I really like Kyuss. Listen to the bass, great solo midway (Fun song to learn to play on bass, it's not easy but not impossible, one of my favorite songs to play on bass guitar). Here is Green Machine by Kyuss!

Fu Manchu
Fu Manchu is an American, stoner rock band. Fu Manchu originally formed in 1985 as a hardcore punk band called Virulence. In 1990, the vocalist was repaced by Glenn Chivens, and they changed their name to Fu Manchu. Fu Manchu went on to release several successful albums and reinforce their reputation as a powerful live act. The band had gained this reputation over the years because of their live performance when touring with bands such as Kyuss, Monster Magnet, Marilyn Manson, Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, White Zombie, Sevendust, and P.O.D. Here is a song from Fu Manchu.

Early, Queens Of The Stone Age
Since Kyuss was split and Queens of the Stone Age was formed I decided to cover them as well because of the early Queens was a wery stoner inspired band! Queens of the Stone Age is an American band, which was formed in 1997. The band was originally formed under the name Gamma Ray of the guitarist Josh Homme. The band has developed a music style based on heavy guitar riff, which Homme himself described as "robot rock", saying that he "wanted to create a heavy sound based on a solid jam and just knock it into your head." The group has often been described as a stoner rock band, the band itself has rejected the term. If you listen to it you get why people call them a stoner rock band, because they were!

Greatful Dead, Origin of Stoner Rock!
I talked a little about Greatful Dead above so let us talk a little about them. Since Greatful Dead is more Psycadelic Rock, I decided not write much about them. Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965, California. The band is known for its unique and eclectic style, which fused elements of rock, psychedelia, experimental music, modal jazz, country, folk, bluegrass, blues, reggae, and space rock. Fantastic music to listen to when you are feeling down if you ask me! It lift's you up and takes you to the skies.
