What is bullying or bullying?
Bullying is the deliberate and continued physical and / or psychological abuse of a child by another or others, who behave cruelly towards it with the aim of subjecting and scaring it, in order to obtain a favorable result for the bullies or simply to satisfy the need to attack and destroy that they usually present.
Bullying implies a continuous repetition of ridicule or aggression and may lead to social exclusion of the victim.
Bullying characteristics

  • It usually includes behaviors of diverse nature (ridicule, threats, physical aggressions, systematic isolation, etc.).
  • Tends to cause problems that recur and prolong for a certain time.
  • It is usually caused by a student, supported by a group, against a victim who is helpless.
  • It is maintained due to the ignorance or passivity of the people who surround the aggressors and the victims without directly intervening.
  • The victim develops fear and rejection of the context in which he suffers violence; loss of self-confidence and others and decreased school performance.
  • It diminishes the ability of moral comprehension and empathy of the aggressor, while there is a reinforcement of a violent style of interaction.
  • In people who observe violence without doing anything to avoid it, there is a lack of sensitivity, apathy and lack of solidarity.
  • The quality of life of the environment in which it occurs is reduced: difficulty in achieving objectives and increase in problems and tensions.
    Types of bullying
    We can talk about several types of bullying that often appear simultaneously:
  • Physical: pushing, kicking, aggression with objects, etc. It occurs more frequently in primary than in secondary.
  • Verbal: insults and nicknames, contempt in public, highlight physical defects, etc. It is the most usual.
  • Psychological: they undermine the self-esteem of the individual and foment their sense of fear.
  • Social: aims to isolate the young person from the rest of the group and colleagues.
