Great post @stellabelle, Tesla is one of the most inspiring character to me.
This is evidenced by the school system leaving him out of its history books. There are other reasons he has been omitted, too. Is it naive of me to think that now, after the FBI has released its Tesla files to the public, the school system will add him into its history books?
I've always found it odd that Thomas Edison gets so much recognition in school and is taught soooo much. Then tesla on the other hand, gets no recognition in schools. Yet Thomas Edison didn't even invent the light bulb. He only improved upon what other were already working on and then patented it. He it seemed like he was really jealous of Nikolas Tesla ability to make inventions so well.
My theory for the reason of why Thomas Edison is taught so much in school is that he is a great business man that would choose money over innovation any day. He would also choose cruelty and lying to make money. Like when he killed an elephant to discredit AC. The U.S. promotes these values for the people of the country to follow, therefore that it why he is taught instead tesla. And yes sadly I think it is naive to think that he will be added to text books :(
Schools and American society at large place way more emphasis on financial success. Tesla died in poverty....
