Steeming With No Power Supply; My Plight On Electricity

It has been a while since I posted on steemit. There has been no light in my community for about Two weeks now. Oh!!! You wonder, Yes...

From NEPA to PHCN and now it is has been privatised to so many names of their choice. Still, we do not have a stable power supply.

If you ask a 5-year-old child in my community to tell you how many times they have slept with power supply, you would be shocked when he tells you 10 - 12 times because it is clearly visible that we do not get the power supply, less a steady one.

To poor economy has also made it difficult for us to afford a generator to supply light. On an average, the highest paid employed person in my community receives 50,000 Naira monthly, a few are self-employed petty traders who sell Puff-Puff, pop corn, akara (bean cake) who make not even up to 500 Naira daily, while others are employed cleaners, maids and others who are paid 7,500 Naira monthly.

If these people even get paid for their services, it would have been better, but instead, they deprive them of their right. They decide not to pay salaries leaving us to die in hunger.

With this kind of life style, most of us cannot even afford good food not to mention a generator. If we could have a generator in our house, we would be a blessing to the community.

Most times, we get the power supply for only 2 hours 20 minute in seven days. Yes, i can say it again and again boldly.

On days when we are at their mercy and power is restored, Everybody in the community both young and old shout the usual

UP NEPA

And on days when there is no power supply, we wait for a neighbour to put on his generator. Immediately he puts on the generator, the whole community will gather to charge their gadgets and touches.

The funniest part of it is the exorbitant bills they bring at month ends after which they start disconnecting people who do not pay or better still people who can not afford the bill.

I hope one day someday, my community would be able to be proud of saying we have stable electricity but for the now, we do not have.
