Okay so here's my other post about New York. I really don't want to sound too negative but this is something I had to write. Something that really makes me wonder.
The first time I came to NY and tried to use subway, I just couldn't get anywhere. But I thought I was stupid and, as I just had 3 days in NY, I used taxis instead.
Then this winter I spent a few weeks in Jersey and that's when I started wondering.
What could be happening in the subway system of the most progressive country in the world so that trains get delayed and rerouted literally every single day? I mean, there are no traffic jams underground right? What's going wrong?))
It got me really curious as in Moscow, where everything else is upside down, the only thing that functions like clockwork is metro. In every of several hundred stations in the city a train passes like every 2 minutes. Unless of course someone jumped on the tracks.
But what really gets me now is another thing. It's literally a hundred and twenty degrees on the platforms in summer! Most on my New York experiences get ruined just because when I eventually get out of the subway, I am so hot and sweaty that I don't feel like sightseeing anymore, I feel more like being here;)))
I also take a lot of wrong trains because I just can't stand been on the platform so I hop into the first train one arrives which isn't always mine)))
And funny thing is people around act like they don't even notice the heat. Are New Yorkers immune to everything?) Is there anyone complaining, is there anyone who is planning to fix this? Are you really all cool with it?
