NewSteemTales | What's your most embarrassing story from your newbie days at OldSteem

in #newsteem5 years ago

Old Steem is ancient news, New Steem is what's trendy now. But that doesn't mean we can't have a laugh at how we behaved when we were a one week old plankton at Old Steem, right?

discord channel that made me remember my days as a newbie and how clueless I and some other OCD curators were - curators which I won't mention to keep their honor intact :PThere was a conversation in the @ocd

I remember I didn't know anything about Voting or where the money came from, I didn't even know VP or SP was a thing, so I started to vote every dolphin I ran into and I easily gave away 300 full votes in one single day... And all because I wanted to catch their attention with my 0.001 vote and perhaps make them follow me or give me a vote back.

Can you imagine nowadays giving out 300 full votes in a couple of days?

Oh God, I was such a rookie. And we all were. Some of us have a lot of embarrassing stories and I'm pretty sure some of you weren't such rookies when they happened :P

So share them with us, let's laugh together at how OldSteem was and I'll pick a random embarrassing story and will send the Steemian 10 steem - only rule, it's gotta be funny :P

!dramatoken

Oh yeah, for the 1st few weeks I was upvoting everybody hoping to get new followers. I didn’t have a clue.

You're upping the drama to new levels! Have a DRAMA.

Lmao when I first joined I remember I used a bidbot but I quickly realized I didn’t earn from it so I stopped. I joined dobartim’s school as well but meh I didn’t learn anything to be honest. I even joined one of his contests but that was just a waste as there was no instruction written on the contest post that you have to read it in one of his “lessons” on voice chat so my whole time in there was just a waste of time.

And also I was using the “curie” tag because my friend told me to do so I could be curied but it took me a while to realize it isn’t the criteria to be curied and that tag makes no sense at all 😂 Not that embarrassing but I’m thankful I didn’t spam people with “I followed you, followed me back too!” 🙈😛

My most embarassed story is when I supported people who are leeches and ego maniacs.

The most embarrassing moment I ever had during my first week in my steemit life was by making a post of a simple photography and tag curie because the one invited told me that l will earned just post a picture. Then I heard, when you post a drama in your life many Steemian will help. In one word, begging. I never begged but it came to my mind as what I saw around. So funny embarrassing moment but it really happened.

I remember when I first joined Steem I was very blind. Maybe it's because I'm too tech-savvy and don't know what to do.

There is anxiety and feeling hopeless.
I almost wanted to get out and not return to Steemit. But I ventured while asking through Discord and I was able to start with a newer spirit. Initially I saw the opportunity to write with the tag #introduceyourself. I did not realize that there is a rule that states that the tag is only done once. I made a photo more than 4 times with that tag. Initially I felt happy because of this tag I got an up vote and started to feel happy because I got appreciation from another steemian. however, how embarrassed and guilty I felt when @cheetah and @steemcleaner visited my post.

Here my entry

Many Stories Written on Old Steem

Warm regard from Indonesia Thank you @anomadsoul

Can't say that it's embarrassing in that sense perhaps, but I remember when stellabelle thought I was a girl. Otherwise, it's probably much like you and many others. Hundreds of upvotes everywhere in an attempt to get some recognition. Although, I never really tried to "follow the big accounts".

Oh, and here you go! Not sure why I thought of "scary" or "dark" stuff when I heard the word "tales" lol.. But yeah. Use it or not. xD

My first week on Steem was a moment of confusion, I followed over 1k people whale and whenever I make a post, I had to peep on the tags they used and I used same, thinking I would get upvotes and get noticed. I thought back then using a popular tag guarantees upvotes. And made turns some people's name to tag to get their attention. Ned, Dan, thejohalfiles and couple of names were all tag to me.

I don't understand alot of post about cryptocurrency back then since I was new in the Crypto space but then I needed the upvote, so I had to pick few comments together and form mine. I end up confusing myself but the goal was achieved.

I and Ginabot was great friends, if i get any post notification about a whale posting, I rush down there like someone who is late at work.

I miss those good old days

My mistake: thanking everyone who commented on my first post. I was out of resource credits in about five minutes ... THAT de-escalated quickly...

Editing my publication over and over again because I didn't know how to use MD and HTML and the result was horrible. But with time and several guides read I decided to only use HTML. Now my posts are very simple ones 😁
But without the vote :(

I have no embarrassing stories to be honest. The fact you do not know how it all works is not embarrassing but has way more to do with the complex structure. Most still do not know how it all works simply because Steemit likes to keep it a secret and is not telling everything and most Steemians are far from helpfull.

The language is also a problem to many and the new Steem, still Steem to me, did not make it my better after 2 HFs in two days.

Voting is a way to be seen so is commenting and it is the only way to engage to others and it still is. If the fat whale does not see you someone else will. I do believe that all those 0.001 given by many redfish does make a great income.

Ohhh ghosh you remind me so much of my silly acts, I did the same thing, was not even aware there is something called as VP unless one of the steemians kind soul highlighted it to me :-) I am surely going to write on this as I have goofed up a lot and lot...hehehe
