Disproportionate fear...

in #newsteem5 years ago

Ok, another small observation is that post rewards haven't changed much. That's actually a great thing. HF21 took 10% out of the rewards pool, and shoved it in the SPS. So, you should at least be seeing 10% less... but it doesn't look that way.

My first impressions are that what we lost in SPS funding has been gained back by community down voting. We'll see if this lasts...

Socialist upvotes

See, when you downvote it returns the rewards to the rewards pool for others to use for their rewards. So, HF21 shrank the pool for everyone by funding the sps, and shrank the pool available to posts that the community thought were leeching. It may be too early too tell in general, and tough to say if this is going to stick around... but it looks like the pool for scammers is shrinking and it's supporting the post values of everyone else.

See, focusing on the one account getting downvoted is so dramatic compared to upvoting all other posts slightly. ;)

Will newsteem ruin steem?

Short answer... no. Long answer- no, and those fudders are going to feel idiotic... Why? because this hard fork helps curators. Who are curators? People that hold steem! What gives steem value? People holding it. So, if we're helping curators who hold steem and more people want to do that to get the benefit what will happen?

That's right kids. the whole platform will shit itself to death Demand for Steem will rise. Authors will continue to post. Content will get discovered. Shit will improve.

It's possible at the start of this you're just going to see less steem as an author. But you're also going to see a lot more steem as a curator and hodler. Hopefully in the not too distant future the loss of steem earnings will be made up for by the gain in steem prices.

We'll see... this is just a first take on what I'm seeing for #newsteem.

I can't remember what the new curation curve time thingy is. Is it 5 minutes or 1 minute?

I just said the same thing in a post... hope someone has an official answer!

You probably mean vote window not curve.
Vote window = 5 minutes
Curve = Convergent linear curve
;-)

Yeah, that's the one. :)

I typically vote for smaller accounts and have seen them come down unfortunately. It is still early and hopefully curation helps offset these but I am still hesitant to call victory until engagement tells me otherwise.

I agree, users with some stake should try to spread their votes on as many as possible accounts instead of accumulating them on the posts a few successful authors.

I suggest to follow @flagtrail using https://flagtrail.herokuapp.com and entering their Discord https://discord.gg/GhYhRnf Server.

Hey, how does calling the trendo token work? Do you need to hodl a certain number of their tokens to be able to do it?

Yes, you should STAKE at least 1,000 TRDO Tokens to distribute TRDO Tokens daily. Please refer to TRDO Comment Bot V.1.2 Released for further info. ;) !giphy your+comment+worth

That gif is awesome. XD

Ahh, awesome! I wasn't quite sure what the TRDO tokens were about. Thanks for the info!

I’ve noticed the two posts I had pending payout (both sub $3.00) have lost about 25% of their payout over the last several hours. It wasn’t immediate after the HF and I expect they may continue to fall. Just like with past forks that needed time to calculate a new equilibrium, I don’t think we’ll see the full effect for several days.

I am With You on this Mr. STEEMMONSTER CREATOR !!!

We need steem investors as well as good author to support with. Perhaps, it's time to be an author of something great...

I am seeing it too.😊 I'm looking forward to what will happen after a week or two.😊

the whole platform will shit itself to death

best part of this post.

thee.best

I'm doing my best to pump up my steem power. I'm still a small fry account but I hope to grow it fairly quickly over the next few months.

Yea, we have to wait for somerime to see tge all effects but i'm hopefull that it will be good for the community and bring us the light.

i can see the light already...no fud only FOMO!

I would think that just a few hours after the HF would be a little too soon to tell:

Ok, another small observation is that post rewards haven't changed much.

I guess all us content creators should just stop creating and turn to curating in order to make money on our efforts. But wait, if we all do that - who shall we curate? I guess there's always those posts in trending with the same picture every day so a hundred dummy accounts can "curate" them. Follow the leader.

I agree with you @blueeyes8960 I was prepared for this ....or at least I thought I was. My vote value has dropped on steem block explorer, I did not expect this! Then I get 50% of the crumbs that are left?

What's SPS?

Anyway, while I'm not confident so much about HF21 I can see how it encourages people to hold STEEM. If more people did that I'll be happy. But only time will tell.

My first impressions are that what we lost in SPS funding has been gained back by community down voting. We'll see if this lasts...

Even prior to any downvoting when the changes went live, there was little to no change on my posts. (I took a screen shot prior for a comparison)

A Resteem in my feed went from $80 to $100 though.

Promising as far as curation:

My open posts dropped about 20% as did most with small payouts. The posts with big payouts increased.

To be honest I still can't see why changing the curve was a good idea. It seems that more Steem will go to the top earners and the sub $20 posts will get less. How are the smaller users to build their accounts except by voting for the established ones knowing that they will have a circle of bigger votes coming in, pushing them over the $20 mark. I'm pretty sure this will just just make the big guys even bigger. This is the only thing that concerns me but time will will show how it plays out. All other changes I can see the logic and i am excited that downvotes will become way to balance things.

because this hard fork helps curators.

Bidbots helps curators too...it's more than 50%.
