Today, the government designates 1 Ramadan (the first day of fasting) falls on Thursday, May 17, 2018. This decision is set at a hearing led by religious minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin at the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The hearing was attended by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN), and Islamic ORMAS such as PBNU and PP Muhammadiyah. Previously PP Muhammadiyah had already set 1 Ramadhan (May 17, 2018) and 1 Syawal (June 15, 2018) this year.
