Recently I’ve decided to stop watching the news completely, including sports news. I no longer read BBC, along with any other source (e.g TV, radio) and I do my best to avoid news related articles online.
Normally, people tend to believe that it’s good to know what’s happening in the world and it’s a good way to educate yourself on politics and other related articles.
However, as I was getting older I started to realise that in most cases, reading/watching news is a huge waste of time.
The thing is, If something important has happened in the world, no doubt, you’ll hear about it anyway. Awareness doesn't fix the problems, taking action does.
So whats the point in wasting your precious time in such a useless and negative activity that has no impact?
My advice - don’t let the news take over your life, especially when biased opinions tell you what you should be doing or worrying about.
I have been making a significant effort not to ever go past the front page of a newspaper and I'm happy with sticking with that decision. You are definitely ahead of me here and that must be inspirational.
Thanks!
