Amazon Plans mobile drone stations and hives

in #news7 years ago (edited)

Amazon has submitted it's latest patent to build mobile drone stations on ships, trains and trucks capable of repairing, recharging and deploying swarms of drones. One main reasoning behind this is to potentially have popular new products in demand be taken by a drone for faster priority shipping straight from the main mode of transport.

The patent published on August 1st of this year by USA patent and trademark office, goes hand in hand with a previous patent filed In december 2015, for a “multi-level fulfillment center for unmanned aerial vehicles”, which resembled a bee hive for delivery drones to enter, leave, and charge in.,

Also another patent filed In 2015 by Amazon, detailed how drones delivering products to customer residence could be a equipped with programs to record and map the customers property and use the information to better advertise products to the customer...

None of these ideas have been implemented into the market yet and the big tech moguls are renowened for filing redicuous amounts of patents each year, so I guess we wait and see what the future of amazon holds..

Yeah I think most patents are just the company trying to future proof themselves. Some interesting ideas though. I can imagine at busy periods like xmas the sky being full of drones ;)
