FENERBAHCE SPORTING DIRECTOR DAMIEN COMOLLI
Fenerbahçe has signed a three year contract with Damien Comolli, who has worked in clubs such as AS St. Etienne, AS Monaco, Arsenal FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Liverpool FC in different roles.
Damien Comolli will direct Fenerbahçe all football operations in Fenerbahçe football branch for the next three years. Comolli’s responsibilities will be scouting, recruitment, youth development and he will also be responsible for advising our Administrative Council.

I cannot wait to begin my work here. Everyone in the club is impatient to see our supporters filling the stadium in this new era. I have watched many matches in here before and I cannot wait to see the passion of the supporters and the atmosphere they can create.”
Fenerbahçe President Mr Ali Koç stated his thoughts about Fenerbahçe new Sporting Director Damien Comolli as: “Damien Comolli was the person that we have been in touch with for a long time. He is a precious person who worked in some of Europe’s most important clubs. We aready began our journey to built the Fenerbahçe Football Team that we dreamed of based on our long term planning and we started to take our first steps towards that. WHO IS DAMIEN COMOLLI?
French football Professional Damien Comolli was born in 24 November 1971 and worked as a coach, scout and football director throughout his career working in important clubs such as AS Monaco, AS St. Etienne, Arsenal FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Liverpool FC.
Comolli began his football career in the youth setup of Monaco, then he became the technical director of the club’s U16 team and brought state championship. In 1995 he graduated from the Law Faculty of Nice, and gained coaching license in the same year.
In 1997, Comolli joined Arsenal FC and spent seven seasons as a European scout and is credited with the discovery of several of Arsenal's players such as Kolo Touré and Gaël Clichy, Thierry Henry, Robert Pires.
Between 2004 and 2005, he was technical director of AS Saint-Étienne. The club went through a successful period, finishing sixth in the league and reaching the semi-finals of the French League Cup. During his time there, he also oversaw a number of important first team signings and developed partnerships with junior and amateur clubs, locally, nationally and internationally.
In 2005, Comolli became sporting director of Tottenham Hotspur FC. During his time at Tottenham Hotspur FC, players such as Gareth Bale, Alan Hutton, Kevin-Prince Boateng, and Younès Kaboul joined to the club. Comolli was also responsible for the signings of former Tottenham Hotspur FC first-team squad members Luka Modrić, Benoît Assou-Ekotto, Heurelho Gomes, Vedran Ćorluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko, as well as Dimitar Berbatov.
In 2008, it was announced that Comolli would return to AS Saint-Étienne as sporting director
2010, Comolli's appointment as director of football strategy at Liverpool FC was announced, with part of his remit being to oversee the recruitment of new players to the club. Comolli signed the two players, Luis Suárez and Andy Carroll onto the team and continued his career in Liverpool FC as “Director of Football”. In 2011-12 season names like Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Doni, Jose Enrique, Sebastian Coates and Craig Belammy joined in his team.
Damien Comolli will be working as the Fenerbahçe Sports Club Sporting Director through 2018-2019 season and forwards.
Fenerbahçe Sporting Director Damien Comolli’s signing ceremony and press conference will be on 12th June at 14.00 in 1907 Terrace in our stadium.
