Clemency for Ross Ulbricht - Update on the Ross Ulbright Case

in #news6 years ago (edited)

According to this article from Ethereum World News dated Tuesday, July 24, 2018..Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Might Catch A Break From U.S. Attorney.

“Silk Road is about something much bigger than thumbing your nose at the man … It’s about taking back our liberty and our dignity and demanding justice.” “Do it for me, do it for yourself, do it for your families and friends, and do it for mankind.” - Ross Ulbricht

Ross Ulbricht, the high-profile founder of Silk Road is currently serving a life sentence in prison without possibility of parole. according to this article, Ulbricht might be catching his first break since he was suspected of being the mastermind behind the underground website Silk Road. He was convicted on narcotics and other charges on for his role in orchestrating a scheme that enabled around $200 million of anonymous online drug sales using bitcoins. The U.S. Supreme Court denied his petition to appeal his life sentence last month . However a U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland has has filed a motion to dismiss the ‘murder-for-hire’ charge that is still pending against Ulbricht.

Ulbricht was found guilty by a Manhattan federal jury on all seven counts he faced after a closely watched four-week trial spilling out of U.S. investigations of the use of the bitcoin digital currency for drug trafficking and other crimes. The government used uncharged and unproven murder-for-hire allegations that never actually occured to deny Ross bail, smear him in the media, bias his jurors, and justify the life sentence he ultimately received.
