A man living in the Russian region of Omsk, in Siberia (Russia), was preparing to plant potatoes in his garden when he found several bones that were buried, including the skull of a human being. The man, terrified, ran to tell his wife, 60 years. But to her surprise, she already knew: she confessed that they were the remains of her first husband, whom she had killed during a fight in 1997.

The man uncovered a murder committed more than two decades ago, as reported by Russian authorities on Wednesday. The find was made on May 23 in Luzino, a town in the Omsk region. The man was working the land when he found the human remains, according to a statement from the regional Committee of Instruction. First he found several bones and then a skull.

He was stunned and told his partner. But the answer he got left him even more amazed. "Do not worry, it's my first husband," his wife told him, according to The Daily Mail. After confessing to the crime, the woman asked him to bury the skeleton again and tell the police nothing. But he, who was afraid, ignored him and informed the authorities. During an interrogation, the woman told the officers that she had killed her spouse, who in 1997 was 52 years old, with an ax, after he arrived home drunk and hit her repeatedly.

Realizing that after receiving the blow with the ax, her husband showed no sign of life, decided to tear the body, burn it and hide it in the garden. Later, she pretended that her husband had gone to work one day and had never returned, according to The Daily Mail. The victim had no more family and her disappearance was never reported. The police have opened a criminal case for murder.
