United Airlines, Avianca and Delta Air Lines have either stopped flying to Venezuela or said they would leave the country, while three others canceled flights on specific days as the nation descends into chaos.
Airlines are continuing to pull out of Venezuela, and this time it’s not just about trapped cash but a whole series of grievances including staff held up at gun point, luggage theft, poor runway maintenance and low quality jet fuel.
I see comments posted, and I don't agree or disagree; I think they are illustrative of the pent up frustration that a 2 party political view does not grasp the real issues involved and offers NO SOLUTION to humanity's problems:
"Isn't socialism grand???? Were are the Hollywood elites who once touted this country as the go-to place for socialism? Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Michael Moore, where are you?"
"Bernie Sanders should go down there and get them straightened out."
(By the way, I think Bernie is great ;-)
To close, I will say,
if I were to offer a true solution to these ancient issues that plague mankind's governments, it's Steem culture, or something very similar, as outlined by Dan here:
actually the true problem in Venezuela is capitalism. It is nowhere near socialist, that is just propaganda.
The capitalists are destabilising it like they did chile, just because a socialist was elected as leader.
If the government of Venezuela were socialist. All the leaders would not have bank accounts with sums of immense dollars. They, instead of being named socialists or capitalists, should be named thieves or drug traffickers.
And related to the topic of the post, it is unfortunate that since 2014 approximately 11 airlines have been flying activities towards Venezuela. The last airline to leave was "Aerolineas Argentinas".
Thanks @surfyogi, for sharing information as is. :)
" All the leaders would not have bank accounts with sums of immense dollars. They, instead of being named socialists or capitalists, should be named thieves or drug traffickers."
nah that sounds like capitalism to me.
It may be that I see it that way, because I have to live it in my day to day life.
Yes, of course, it's very difficult to know. When OIL is at stake, I could believe almost anything..
Many countries could have their fingers in this pie, and be willing to commit great crimes, to control it.
The truth is that we Venezuelans are currently suffering the outrages of a dictator, criminal government that repression robs the future and hope many. Effectively many airlines took the decision to suspend activities, due to the application of policies of closed economies, in addition to the absence of legal security. As a Venezuelan who is on the 90% side that opposes Dictator Nicolas Maduro, I am very grateful for your concern. Blessings @surfyogi
Yes, good to hear from you. I do not understand these issues very well. I do encourage you to write about your thoughts on this subject and help inform us directly; so we have better information than listening to our state media..
I agree. I recently wrote a post to help promote a Venezuelan Steemian @rivendels. Perhaps you could drop by her blog and show her some love. If everyone with a decent-sized Steemit wallet would adopt a Venezuelan, we could make a very practical and real financial impact in a few people's lives.
And great post from Dan.
Done!
Very sad whats happening in Venezuela, a lot of the issues are multi-dimensional, no one fix, even if you replace the present administration and you wave in capitalism, the chronic debilitating system would continue... economically things are desperate on the ground, but Venezuela is one of the few countries meeting all its debt obligation, I find that quite strange (????), an your capitalistic banks are still buying the bonds on the capital market, so the who is fooling who... there is a lot of outside pressure that is compounding the problem... i am not defending socialism nor am I a fan, I hope the national assembly finds a solution and whoever remains in power, the national wealth of the country remains firmly in the hands of the people
can you even define socialism
There has been an internal and external struggle since the days of Chavez, when he died, those that saw him as obstacle rejoice and started their attack on the regime, I don't want to be seen as supporting the present regime but propaganda, as commonly known now "fake news" is rampant... I won't get into what is socialism and what is not... most of the countries natural resource belongs to the government and its intention were to distribute the wealth among the people, whether that's good and bad, probably another debate... at it core, the assembly wants to identify as socialist probably it would be better term Bolivarianism. One has the first understand the stain of imperialism by Spain and Britain in the Caribbean and Latin America, an you would understand why this present struggle against. I wish the people of Venezuela finds a peaceful solution, and the external forces would try to actually help but they oppose that sort of ideology and that what they are trying to kill. The ideology of Simor Bolivar is alive, even if the present regime goes down, Venezuelans would be sit back and allow the wealth to be divided among these imperialist...
"countries natural resource belongs to the government"
I'm not going to read the rest, the majority of jobs are in private industry.
If we are going to come to state of understanding, then we must meet half-way... as I said, the natural resource being in the hands of the government is the solution that Chavez had when he took power, that's why he went along nationalizing all of the countries resource. I believe Chavez, was a student of Simon Bolivar work and he would have understand the struggle of the common Venezuelan at the time, that's why he went on taking the power from what he saw as imperialist continuing the work of imperialism. We also have to look at the state of Venezuela economy prior to Chavez and after. Chavez, tried to take some of the abundant wealth that the country had an share it among the people, and often cited Simon Bolivar as his father. One cannot stick with the strict definition of the term socialism and grasp any understanding of the situation. He tried putting power into the hands of Venezuelans, so yes, there was a few Venezuelans that become wealthy under him and the Venezualans private sector grew under him. One of the problems of these modern day revolutionaries, they try to dismantle a system that's heavily align with the country economy, so in one hand they are distributing wealth to their people and another hand they are destroying the economies. I believe this is problem most post colonial and independent countries. These folks never really had the training of running an economy and that begins to show with time, that's the reason why these countries end up in so much problems. I am talking from that of an observer, my home country was going down the route of communism, the US crush it but it was the best economic time and growth the country has ever seen. Most of the leaders like the ideas of the varying governance and one must understand its a learning curve... so yes, the natural resources belongs to the government of the time, as they try to develop the country and their people... it would be naive and foolish to assume the current problems are that of the current government
The Venezuela 🇻🇪 government is known for putting the wrong people in charge of their vast oil reserves. The evidence for this is the yearly decrease in their output of oil. I bet you the locals are converting into cryptocurrencies so they can take their wealth out of the country before it's confiscated by the government. Is this part of the demand that's causing bitcoin to go to new heights?
Certainly, when I realized what a tool for freedom BTC was for people in various nations to escape fiat and torture, I invested heavily.
Very good article of truth that I congratulate it because this is a problem that in the future we will affect all the Venezuelans
First of all congratulations for this material I really liked this article and it is good that you share with all Venezuelans this kind of information since we are paying for the bad management of this government success
Haha seriously steem culture :)
i think its not good but why they do this and how many time its goes?
So much bad politics going on there, sad to see its people suffering.
It is truly distressing to see the things that have been unfolding in Venezuela.
Thier only friend at the moment is the decentralised blockchains where they can use things like bitcoin as a safe storage of their money from this corrupt broken poisoned system
I hope some good comes sooner or later since this is just spiralling out of control @surfyogi
Effectively many airlines took the decision to suspend activities, due to the application of policies of closed economies, in addition to the absence of legal security. Thanks For Share.
Well I think that we Venezuelans every day we are more locked in Venezuela and if we want to get out it has to be on the ground and lay our life and that is sad good article
