Conjoined twins from India die in hospital.

While undergoing treatment at the Odisha state government run Sishu Bhawan, the conjoined twins aged around three weeks has died on Wednesday night.

It was first informed by Dr. Saroj Satpathy, Superintendent of Sishu Bhawan hospital. He stated that, while undergoing treatment, the conditions of the twins started deteriorated as they had developed acute breathing problem. Following which, on Wednesday, around 12:30 am the twins died.

The twins belonged to the couple, Kishore Dutta and Sumitra Dutta of Sharnakula village of Nayagarh district and were born on 1st December. With a single liver and a defective heart, the twins were joined at their chests.

On Tuesday they were shifted to the Sishu Bhawan hospital for the treatment. Recently, AIIMS, New Delhi had usefully able to separate conjoined twins Jaga and Kalia and all the costs were taken by the state government. After the shifting of the twins to the premier children’s hospital, the state government had announced that it would bear all the medical expenses of the twin girl. But unfortunately, they have died.

State health minister Pratap Jena, who has been personally monitoring the status of Jaga and Kalia said: “It was really unfortunate that the twins did not survive to undergo surgery for their separation.”
